As the number of students with ADHD continues to increase, we need to provide students with an outlet that will allow them to move around and keep from becoming so anxious and fidgety. We need to find a way to keep them in the classrooms and focused! While it does take a bit more to keep them focused, creating a classroom environment with flexible seating allows for them to choose and be excited about doing their work. Flexible seating will make students excited to sit down and wobble while they work on a stool, cushion, or exercise ball. Many of my students often dread sitting down and would rather stand up and walk around, which typically becomes a distraction for other students. Now they will still have the freedom to move around without being a distraction to those around them.
