  • A Place at School for Students to Get Life Essentials!

    Funded Apr 24, 2017

The project was completely funded and within days the first aide kits, hair brushes, combs, granola bars, nuts arrived from Staples. It was very exciting since right now the leadership students are having a food drive for students that are homeless at our school. They will put together a package for each of the families. We at our school our so thankful that you funded this project for these less fortunate students in our community. It is going to be summer soon and that is a hard time for these students that get their meals at our school. Having a care package to start out the summer will be appreciated and helpful for them. Kindness breeds kindness and happiness and this will make these families happy to have their burden lighten somewhat.

They will get the basic first aide kit to take care of their families cuts and bruises and minor injuries. They will have a healthy snack as well.

Thank you for your donation to this project. The donation will go directly to the less fortunate at this school by the end of the month and what is leftover will go to future less fortunate students next school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldauf

  • Making Digital Graphic Novels with Toon Graphic Books

    Funded Apr 4, 2017

Thank you for funding these Toon Graphic Books for my students to read and look over before starting their own book. I have a blank book for each of the 6th graders (34 books) and once they finish their sketchbook covers, their first project of the quarter, they will start reading the books and start writing their own comic books/graphic novels. I'm getting the packets together so they can write these in steps since writing a graphic comic books is hard work for some students, especially struggling readers and students that are just learning English.

With these books as examples, it will make the project richer and make better readers and writers. Thank you for your generosity with funding this Donors Choose projects. We would not be doing this project without the new books to read and start the project going.

    Thank you!!”

  • Painting Orphans in Bolivia with the Memory Project

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

Being able to participate in The Memory Project by drawing pictures of orphans on iPads and color pencil and watercolor, learning about Bolivia and the plight of the young people in this country increases the relevance of art for students taking art this year. Without Donors Choose organization we would not be able to do this project and without your contribution. Thank you for helping to make this project available to these students. They learn compassion, art making skills, creativity and some world geography at the same time. Great project to have them have access to and great learning experience. It's a win win situation for the students in the United States and the orphans in Bolivia.”

  • 2D Drawings Become 3D With Doodle Pens

    Funded Jan 7, 2017

Thank you for generously funding "3doodler Create Half Edu Bundle" from Best Buy. Now students at this title one school will be able to create art while learning a new technology and becoming proficient using the pens to create 3D actual drawings. This adds another dimension to the digital art program by creating 3d drawings. Students will now have a unit using the 3D printer and the 3D pen to create their own actual designs from pencil drawings.

This is a rare opportunity to have this new technology at a title one school which usually is behind the curve in the latest technology. Fortunately for us that you helped with the funding of this opportunity for students at this school.

Thank you for thinking of giving students this opportunity to try a new technology so they will have the opportunity that they don't have at home to try this technology at school.”

  • S.T.E.A.M. Ahead with 3 New Digital Drawing Tablets!!!

    Funded Jan 24, 2017

Having now a complete set of drawing tablets has transformed the classroom and my excitement with this technology and students learning the new technology has greatly increased the program exponentially. Students today tried installing the 3 new drawing tablets but have to wait since they don't have administrative privileges :(. The 2 digital art classes are using them and other students in other art classes are now asking to use the tablets.

Students are doing research on unusual plants from around the world and starting using the tablets to draw them. Combining art with technology and sprinkling an academic subject such as biology is a winning combination for students learning and the world opening up to them in a small classroom at this title one school.

Thank you for funding steam projects. It's the way students learn and retain material best.”

  • Steam: Combining Art, Technology, Math with an iPad

    Funded Jan 7, 2017

Thank you for donating and funding the new iPad Pro for my class and the Apple pencil and a sturdy case to protect it in case it is dropped. Now more students at this title one school will get a chance to try the latest iPad with the large screen and the precise Apple pencil. There are 6 art classes and now 6 more students a day will be able to use it. Students are already signing up for a chance to try this iPad for their next digital art assignment.

Students are writing scripts for their green screen animation and with Doink app they will put together their drawings, videos and scripts to make a short animation with the iPad pro. The bigger screen makes it easier for students to work with an iPad and see their work evolve.

Thank you again for thinking of my students when you made this donation and my students say thank you for giving us a chance to try the iPad Pro for the first time.”

  • Botanical Illustration & Plant Morphology with Drawing Tablets

    Funded Dec 18, 2016

Thank you for your generosity in funding drawing tablets so now all the 15 computers each have their own drawing tablets. Students are practicing and getting use to drawing on the tablets and getting the results they want on the computer screen. The technology person at our school just today installed all the drawing tablets so they are up and running for students to not learn how to use and become digital. proficient artists.

The first assignment will be finding a plant from another country, doing research and drawing it with Google Drawing on their computer. Science and art and technology are definitely coming together with the new tablets you generously funded and everyone is excited to learn this new technology and see the results they can not produce digitally.

All students say thank you for funding this project.”

  • Small & Medium Digital Drawing Tablet to Learn Botanical Illustration

    Funded Dec 30, 2016

Thank you for donating to fund 2 more drawing tablets so students can use this technology, become fluent with this technology and create botanical illustrations. We are so excited to start using these new tools. Now the digital art class will all be able to do the same assignment since we have the tools and also learn about biology while learning how to draw the specific plants of specific countries.

These students are from high poverty background and would not have the use of these computer drawing tablets without Donors Choose and thoughtful, generous Donors. It really right off makes a difference with your contribution. The drawing tablets have been delivered, packages opened and the drawing tablets set up. Thank you again for your generosity and the busy drawing students also thank you with their eagerness to learn this new technology.”

I see 150 students a day, ages 11-14; boys & girls. Students are in the school uniform of white top and dark bottoms every day. Most students are clean, young, eager & happy. In return I feel I want to keep that purity and innocence and give them a strong art program with fun, exciting projects. I mix in math ; English, history with the art so they are becoming stronger creative thinkers with technology while learning some core subjects. They are "teenagers" and emotional. They are in the in between child and young adult. They are very impressionable and with most of my students working n clay, using watercolors, drawing on cloth, using iPads, using oil pastels; it's their first experience and they are really excited to try. Some come from not ideal home situations, some students are homeless, live in group homes, live with relatives and school is the one constant for them. At school they are all equals.
