My students all have very unique backgrounds and different abilities. Some of my students have learning disabilities that hinder or make learning difficult for them. We need a teachers' guide and class set of the book, "Fish In A Tree" which is about a girl named Ally who has struggled with reading and writing her whole academic career. She has gone through many teachers who cannot diagnose her dyslexia, until she meets Mr. Daniels. He works with Ally to find how to help her build her confidence and reading abilities. This book also discusses social problems that many students face including friendships, relationships, and bullying. This will give us an opportunity to have an open conversation about some difficult topics that some of them are currently dealing with in the real world. I want my students to feel engaged by the story by following along with me as I read aloud or as they read at their own pace. Each one of my students will receive a book to call their very own. Not only will my students be able to read for enjoyment, but we can also analyze the different characters and how we relate to them on a personal level. This is a wonderful book that teaches students how each one of us is unique and different in our own special way.
