  • Battling the Winds of Winter

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous support, which has brought not just hats, scarves, and gloves to our students but also a wave of comfort and smiles during the chilly embrace of winter.

Although the winter accessories arrived as the season was waning, Mother Nature had her own plans, bringing back the icy cold winds just in time for our children to benefit from your kindness. The unexpected return of winter's chill this spring allowed our students to don their new wolf hats, along with the scarves and gloves, fighting off the cold with both warmth and style. It was a sight to behold as our students, equipped with their new gear, confidently faced the cold, embodying the spirit of resilience and community support.

Your thoughtfulness has not only helped our kids combat the freezing temperatures but also provided them with essential accessories they can continue to use in the years to come. The joy and comfort these winter items have brought to our students are immeasurable, and for that, we are incredibly thankful.

Seeing our students proudly sporting their wolf hats has been a heartwarming reminder of the impact kindness can have. Your support has made a tangible difference in their lives, ensuring they remain warm and cozy during these unexpected cold snaps. It's comforting to know that as the seasons change, the warmth of your generosity continues to envelop our students.

As we eagerly await the true arrival of spring, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the warmth and support you have provided. Your generosity has not only equipped our students to face the cold but has also woven a thread of warmth and care through our community. For that, we thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Andy

  • "Stand Clear of the Closing Door, Please!"

    Funded Jan 11, 2024

We're over the moon to send you a huge thank you for making "Stand Clear of the Closing Door, Please!" our MTA trains project a reality! Your generosity has truly made a difference in our students' lives, and we can't thank you enough for your support.

This whole idea started with one student who's head over heels for the local 7 train. His love for it inspired us to bring the entire subway system into our classroom, and your donations made it happen. Now, our kids are having a blast exploring the subway world every single day!

Since the trains arrived, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement. The kids are on track to learning all about the subway system, and they're having a "train-tastic" time doing it! Your support has not only brought joy and fun into our classroom but also valuable learning experiences.

Thanks to you, our students are developing important skills like problem-solving and teamwork, all while having a blast with their new trains. They're becoming subway experts, all while having a "fare"-ly good time!

We can't express how grateful we are for your generosity. Your support has made a real difference in our students' lives, and we're "train-ing" them for a brighter future, one "track" at a time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Andy

Thank you so much for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project, "I See Me in Our Class Library!" Your contribution has had a profound impact on our students, and I am incredibly grateful for your generosity.

Thanks to your support, our classroom library is now filled with books that serve as mirrors for our students. • The Great Sandventure: Unearthing Imagination in the Sandbox!

    Funded Dec 8, 2023

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your generous support of our project The Great Sandventure: Unearthing Imagination in the Sandbox! Your contributions have made a profound impact on our students' lives, enhancing their unique sensory experience in our one-of-a-kind sandbox.

As one of the very few schools fortunate enough to have a sandbox on our playground, we recognized the incredible potential for sensory exploration and creative play that it offered. However, it was lacking the essential toys and tools to fully support our students in their quest to build, create, and learn through sand play.

Thanks to your unwavering support, we have been able to transform our sandbox into a vibrant hub of imagination and discovery. The addition of sand toys such as buckets and molds has provided our students with the means to unleash their creativity, build intricate sandcastles, and explore the wonders of tactile learning.

The impact of your generosity extends far beyond the physical toys themselves. You are fostering an environment where our children can develop fine motor skills, expand their creativity, and learn through hands-on experiences. Your support has made it possible for our students to not only have fun but also to develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their educational journey.

Our unique sandbox, now equipped with these wonderful tools, is a testament to the positive change that your contributions have brought to our school. The joy and excitement in our students' faces as they play and learn in the sandbox are a direct result of your kindness.”

We are excited to share the tremendous impact your generous support has had on our students through the Numberblocks project. Your contribution has not only provided our students with tangible learning tools but has also ignited a love for math in a uniquely hands-on way.

With the Numberblocks sets based on the popular educational show, our students have been given the opportunity to take home these engaging building blocks. Each block represents a number, and these simple yet powerful tools have become the building blocks of our students' mathematical understanding. They are not just toys; they are tools for developing an amazing number sense.

The impact has been profound. Our students have embraced math with enthusiasm and curiosity, finding joy in learning through play. By taking these Numberblocks home, they are not only reinforcing what they've learned in the classroom but also extending their learning experiences to their families. I wanted to take a moment to share the incredible impact your generosity has had on the lives of our students. Your support has made a profound difference, enabling our children to unleash their creativity, explore, and continue their learning journey at home.

Thanks to your contributions, every one of our students now has the essential supplies and materials they need to craft, create, and explore beyond the classroom. • Illuminating Minds

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, I am writing to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous support of our "Illuminating Minds" project on DonorsChoose. Your kindness has not only lit up our classroom but also the hearts and minds of our young learners.

In these times, when daylight becomes a fleeting visitor, it's easy to feel a bit gloomy. However, in our classroom, we've embraced the challenge and turned it into a celebration of light and learning. Inspired by various mid-autumn festivals around the world, our students have created their own beacons of hope – beautiful, handmade lanterns.

Each child, with a sparkle in their eyes, decorated their mason jars with colorful tissue paper, adding a personal touch with their silhouettes. These lanterns aren't just a craft; they are a symbol of hope, a testament to creativity, and a reminder that even in the darkest times, we can find light. The lanterns have truly transformed our classroom into a bright, warm, and inviting space.

Your contribution played a pivotal role in this. Because of your support, we were able to procure all the necessary materials – jars, tissue paper, safe lighting elements – everything needed to make this project a success. More importantly, you've given our children an invaluable lesson in kindness and community spirit. They've learned that even people they haven't met can have a profound impact on their lives and education.

We are immensely grateful for your generosity and belief in our project. It's supporters like you who make it possible for teachers to bring innovative and inspiring learning experiences to their students.

Thank you for being a part of our journey and for being the light in our students' educational path.”

  • A Clean Classroom Is a Happy Classroom!

    Funded Mar 28, 2023

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support of our project, "A Clean Classroom Is a Happy Classroom!" Your generous contribution has made a remarkable impact on our students and their learning environment, and I am excited to share the progress we have made.

Thanks to your support, we were able to introduce a wide range of cleaning supplies into our classroom. From dustpans and vacuums to wipes and brooms, these tools have become invaluable in teaching our students the importance of cleanliness and responsibility.

I am thrilled to report that our students have developed exceptional habits of cleaning up after themselves. They have embraced the idea of taking care of their learning environment and have taken these habits beyond the classroom walls. It warms my heart to see them eagerly taking charge when accidents happen, reaching for the dustpan or vacuum without hesitation to clean up spills or messes.

Our students have also become actively involved in maintaining cleanliness throughout the day. After every meal, they take the initiative to wipe tables and use the Swiffer to keep the floors tidy. Witnessing their sense of ownership and pride in their surroundings is truly a beautiful sight.

Not only have these habits instilled a sense of responsibility in our students, but they have also fostered a greater appreciation for the custodians who work tirelessly to keep our school clean. Our students' willingness to lend a helping hand has not gone unnoticed, and our custodians greatly appreciate their assistance. It has created a wonderful sense of community and collaboration within our school.

Beyond the immediate impact, this project has empowered our students to transfer these valuable skills and habits to their homes. By encouraging them to take care of their learning environment, we are nurturing a sense of respect and responsibility that extends beyond the classroom walls.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support. Your contribution has allowed us to create a cleaner, more responsible, and happier learning environment for our students. Your belief in the importance of cleanliness and the power of personal responsibility has made a lasting difference in their lives.

Thank you for your support and your commitment to the success and well-being of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Andy

http://kinderheim.weebly.com/ A place for my reflections on teaching and life beyond teaching. I consider every child I taught art, subbed for, had for the year, to be my student. I have eighteen curious four year-old students in my pre-kindergarten class and older ones who walk pass my door and wave hello because I've made their day at some point. I also have future students who aren't old enough to be in school yet, but one day, they will. I teach and live in a tight community where when I walk down the street I will most likely bump into a family I know. Most of the children come from immigrant families who value education greatly. Most are from households who have two hard working parents who do their best to provide the best quality of life for their children. I have been blessed with the opportunity to give their child the best, and I have no intentions of giving anything less.
