Funded May 22, 2024Thanks to your generosity, we've introduced new grid/waffle blocks and giant brick blocks, and the response from our kids has been nothing short of amazing.
It was like a missing piece was put into place the moment we set up these blocks. Suddenly, recess has turned into a bustling hub of creativity. While some of our students still race to the soccer balls and jungle gym, we've seen a whole new group of builders emerge. They're out there every day, constructing everything from towering skyscrapers to cozy little houses, all from the blocks you helped provide.
And the buzz isn't just on the playground. Kids are stopping me in the halls to express their thanks. While I was the one who put up the project, it was your support that brought it to life. So, I'm passing along a big, heartfelt 'THANK YOU' from all of us here.

Since the project's launch last summer, the mobile cooler has served as a vital resource, initially aiding in distributing food to the broader community. As the new school year started, we shifted focus to meet the needs of our own school families. Every day, uneaten but perfectly good food from breakfast, snacks, and lunch is collected and stored safely in the cooler. At dismissal, families in need are invited to take what they need. This initiative not only minimizes food waste but also ensures that nutritious food items reach the homes of those who might otherwise go without.
Your contribution has directly impacted our ability to tackle these two pressing issues simultaneously. This project has not only nourished bodies but also fostered a spirit of sharing and community that extends far beyond the school gates.

By turning our teachers and staff into puppet characters, we've created a familiar and engaging world for our students. These puppets do more than just teach; they inspire and connect with our students on a personal level. Whether it's during a lesson or used in dramatic play, the joy and engagement from the students are palpable. They see these characters — playful versions of their own teachers and friends — and something wonderful happens. Learning becomes fun, and the messages about kindness, cooperation, and understanding truly resonate.
The magic of puppetry lies in its ability to bring stories to life in a way that captivates young minds. This whole idea started with one student who's head over heels for the local 7 train. His love for it inspired us to bring the entire subway system into our classroom, and your donations made it happen. Now, our kids are having a blast exploring the subway world every single day!
Since the trains arrived, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement. The kids are on track to learning all about the subway system, and they're having a "train-tastic" time doing it! Your support has not only brought joy and fun into our classroom but also valuable learning experiences.
Thanks to you, our students are developing important skills like problem-solving and teamwork, all while having a blast with their new trains. They're becoming subway experts, all while having a "fare"-ly good time!
