Our classroom is a mix of different backgrounds and abilities. With many students from low income families and some with disabilities, every student is on a unique level. By using hands on materials, it helps to meet the needs for both students without and students with disabilities. It also makes for a fun and engaging learning experiences. There are a number of skills that students need to master in both reading and math for kindergarten. Alphabet dice would would be useful in mastering letter names and sounds. From there they can focus on beginning, middle, and final sounds. Math centers also create a fun way to practice and master skills like comparing numbers, addition and subtraction and making ten. Having the centers, they can practice up to 4 different skills in a learning block in a fun and engaging way.
