  • Paper Towels for Little Hands

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

It has been tragic not be able to have simple items like paper towels at our school site. I am hoping that this donation will help us "survive" the next few months until we are able to get funding again. Thank you for donating to us because now the kids can dry their hands without us cutting the paper towels in half or worrying that they won't have any until we can get funding. This project has been extremely helpful to not only our classroom but to the school in general. I hope you all enjoy seeing the pictures of how thankful our students are.”

  • Multicultural Children's Books

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

Thank you so much for the multicultural books. These books have truly enhanced our library area and our student have listened to multiple languages in the classroom. One of my favorite things that happened during this donation process was when another assistant and the principal came to our room and read the Armenian stories to the children. The kids were so excited to hear them speak another language they had not heard before. It was also wonderful that they got to share their own cultural background with our students. Thank you again for your donations.”

  • Affirmation School T-Shirts: We Are Leaders

    Funded Nov 28, 2022

Thank you for giving to our school. We have received the t-shirts and passed it to all of our students and staff. I was excited to get all the new sizing so that every child can get a shirt. Some of our students had outgrown the other sizes and we did not have any available. Last Friday every child wore the t-shirts to school. I have received enough that if the younger children out grow their shirts, I will give other sizes so that they continue to show their school spirit and affirmation as LEADERS.

    Thank you again, as always!”

  • Calming Area for Preschool Classroom

    Funded Jan 11, 2023

This has been an amazing project that was funded for our class. The baskets have been helpful to fill books and soft toys. The calming/cool color pillows provide a lovely comfortable space to sit by the calming area to rest stories, rest, or just enjoy in the classroom. It has made the space lovely and warm. The kids are enjoying the materials and new books about feelings and emotions. They are eager to be read to and sit in a space that will bring them calmness and the feeling of being safe.

Thank you to all who donated to this project.”

  • We Are a Diverse Family

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

It has been a blessing receiving these books. Right away I began to read each story and placed them at the front of the class. Though I will move them to the library area, the students feel so connected and love these books. One of the first books they asked me to read was Jabari Jumps. I have already read the book to them about 5 times and they want more. The books are colorful, and warm, and represent our students so well. We also placed the multicultural clothes in the dollhouse and watch the children wear and pretend as they please with the items. Its wonderful seeing them love and admire all that was given to our classroom. Thank you.”

  • Math Activities to Enhance Student Learning

    Funded Nov 28, 2022

The math toys were used right away. First, I had all the children on the carpet, and we opened each toy one by one and went over what they were and how we would use them in the classroom. Then we opened our containers and placed the materials in the math center. We created a small area in the classroom that encourages the children to take the materials, and either places them on the carpet or on a table and play with the math materials together or individually. These materials have enhanced our math area and helped us with small-group instruction. Thank you for your donations.”

  • Classroom Carpets for Collaboration and Reading

    Funded Sep 28, 2022

The new carpets have been a game changer for our classroom. They have changed the environment completely, by providing a beautiful calming space. For large group, our students use the carpets for listening to stories, read- aloud, and playing with large motor activities such as blocks, trucks, and other toys. The small carpets provided warmth in the doll house, where children are not standing on hard cold surfaces. The second medium size carpet provided an even more comfy feeling in the library. Our students lay on top of the carpets reading their books or playing calming games. It has been wonderful.”

My preschoolers love technology. This project will provide them the opportunity to learn how to take pictures, print out their work, and keep a portfolio of their projects. For my students taking digital pictures can be a way to share cool things that have happened during school hours. They will also learn to express their creativity of the wonderful natural experiences they have playing inside the classroom and in the playground. Photography will help develop their voice, vision, and identity as it pertains to their family, friends, and community. Taking photos will also help my students visualize the same thing in different ways. As the children upload the pictures, they will learn to print and post their work in the classroom. The ink used for the project will be used by all the children as they work on the classroom computer and printer. The children will see the difference between black ink in comparison to the glossy photographs that are kept around the classroom. They will also learn taking pictures with a camera can be moved from one device to the next. They will use the portfolios as documentation of the images to look through and present to families after each study is completed in the school year. These materials will also help my students learn new vocabulary words such as a keyboard, printer, ink, printing paper, camera, and portfolio. My students will also learn how to collaborate, take turns, and work together. I will demonstrate how to use the camera, where the ink comes from and how to take care of what they have printed by using the portfolios.
