The materials I am requesting are needed in order for my student to have a successful and smooth tutoring cycle. I teach AVID Advancement Via Individual Determination 6th , 7th and 8th Grade. My students are students with average grades that are placed in PRE-AP classes because twice a week they get to work with a College tutor during class. Our tutors are facilitators for students to work in collaborative groups. Students follow a ten step process to help each other understand classwork or test questions that are confusing or questions from their Pre-AP classes. Students first take Cornell Notes during class, then students take a TRF Tutorial Request Form to fill up at home. Students come to class prepared to learn and help each other. Each student gets to present their question using a small whiteboard and then the rest of the group members ask questions to get the presenter to understand his point of confusion. During tutorials students take 3 column notes and they write steps to follow when answering that type of questions.. At the end students fill up a reflection form explaining their point of confusion and the steps to follow in the future in order to understand the questions presented. With that said my students need tripod whiteboards, copy paper, lined paper, pencils and a pencil sharpener in order for this process to run smoothly.
