The materials I am requesting will help with ensuring I am able to meet each of my students Individual Educational Goals by specifically targeting exactly what they need. By acquiring these materials, I will be able to create various but specific learning centers around my classroom where each student can work individually, with another student and with assistants to tackle specific skills. Children with Autism require a variety of materials to ensure they are not only learning what they individually need but also that they are generalizing the skills they acquire. The supplies that are needed in order to have an adequate centers in my classroom are things which include: "Learning Resources Rainbow Sorting Crayons, Various Colors”, several file folder games in which the students can independently perform different academic tasks, th "Yoovi Early Learning Basic Life Skills Learn to Dress Boards - Zip, Snap, Button, Buckle, Lace & Tie 6 pcs/set”, different sentence and word building packages to work on their sentence structure and learning to spell words, play materials where they can learn imaginative play skills or show their creative side by using stickers to create words and different pieces of artwork, several books in which they can read either independently with their peer or by themselves and organizational materials to properly store everything in an organized way which include a rolling cart and bins. Students with autism not only have a hard time acquiring skills but also generalizing the skills they've gained. Having students work on different academic and fine motor centers throughout the day and rotate through each center, will help with allowing for generalization of these skills, while also creating an atmosphere where learning can be fun.
