Listening Center/Laptop Headphones for ASD Classroom
Funded Nov 2, 2016Thank you so much for your donations. It truly meant so much to myself and my students. My students use these headphones everyday! We utilize an Ondine program to help students shorten the gap between where they are and where they need to be. Now students are able to use the headphones to listen to the program. Before we had a few headsets that only worked in one ear. Students are now able to use the program without distraction.
When the headsets were delivered one of my students said "Santa came to the. Classroom!" They were so excited to hear that people cared so much about them that they donated money and bought the headphones just for them.
The impact you all have made by donating these headphones to my classroom is amazing. My students are so much more successful with completing their assignments and staying focused.”

Autism Classroom in Need of Tech
Funded Jul 13, 2016Technology in my classroom has helped my students get to a higher level of learning. My students are now able to research topics to further their knowledge independently. They have also been given a computer program that helps close the gap if they are not reading or doing math at grade level. My students are able to listen to the stories on the laptops using headphones and get auditory and visual input. This is extremely valuable for my students because many are either auditory or visual learners so being able to give them options has been incredible. Overall these laptops have been such a gift to my students educational experience!
My students were very excited for these laptops! When the boxes came in it was like Christmas came early. They were incredibly excited to get started using them. My students began asking questions about the laptops right away. They were even helping me set up the laptops! It was so wonderful to see their excitement and joy.
Almost all of my students warmed up to the new technology immediately! There are skills that my students still need to work on such as typing position and using credible sources. However, just in the month we have had the laptops I have seen growth in my students comfort with the technology. They are truly gaining the valuable life and independent skills I was hoping for, along with aiding in their academics. This could not have been achieved without all of the amazing donors! We will be forever grateful to all of you!”
