I switched this year from teaching first grade to teaching kindergarten when my school added a third kindergarten class to meet our growing student population. I have 22 kindergarten students at my public elementary school this year who are very eager to learn. Recognizing the rich diversity of our student population, I believe that the students need a variety of materials, tools, and resources in order to address the different ways that our students learn best.
I want to support them the best way that I can, by providing a fun and safe learning environment, filled with interesting activities that focus on our kindergarten curriculum, and to also by providing a fun and exciting way for them to learn and to be engaged in the classroom. I am trying to set the stage for not only a successful first year of elementary school, but for their long-term academic career.
