I teach pre-k in a rural school. My students are wonderfully inquisitive & eager to learn. My classroom buzzes with energy & excitement about learning! I must keep them constantly engaged. I seek to create a strong foundation of skills that can carry them them through their school careers & into their chosen profession. While I am preparing my students for the next year academically, it is my job to develop the WHOLE child in their present setting. Motor skills & social skills are increasingly difficult for the 21st century child who spends a lot of time plugged in. Motor skills can be strongly linked to a child's academic success. Social skills have been found to boost academic success as well. I facilitate group work to teach cooperation & promote social skills. I try to incorporate as much movement & balancing activities as possible! I challenge them to expand their minds & problem solving skills!
