This spring students will begin an research project in which they will chose an individual in American history to study. After doing in-depth research on their chosen figure, they will be not only be writing a research project on them, they will actually portray them in an event we are calling "Night at the Museum". In this event students will dress and portray their figure for visitors of our event. Our students need reliable resources for this project, and a new set of child friendly biographies will help them with this! The "Who Is?/Was?" line of biographies are child friendly. They are a way for them the access information about their chosen subject other than combing the internet, and coming across sometimes unreliable sources of information. The entire fourth grade class is participating in this project. We would like to have a grade level set of the "Who Is?/Was?" biographies for our fourth grade students to consistently have access to. As of right now I currently own five of these books that I have purchased. I have asked for funding in order to purchase 70 of these biographies that I found that focus on American historical figures. As a grade level, we feel this is an excellent way for our students to improve their literacy, writing, speaking skills, and historical knowledge.
