Creating an Inclusive Classroom
Funded Aug 4, 2015My students are always so excited when we receive new materials in our classroom. They get a lot of joy out of creative materials that help them learn. When we received this project, my kids could barely wait to start working.
For several of my students, number and letter recognition has been a large focal point so far this school year. We have used many different materials to make this a more exciting exercise, but the ice cream number pops, the alpha pops, and the counting rings made them eager to tackle numbers and letters. I am so excited to say that three of my students that were unable to name letters or numbers at the beginning of the year are now able to name numbers 1-10, count a set of 10 objects, and match uppercase letters to lowercase letters.
Thank you from all of us for supporting our learning goals and making this a successful year!”

Learning to Have Fun!
Funded Sep 9, 2015Thank you all so much for your support of my classroom! When the supplies for this project arrived, my students were so excited and eager to begin using the new games.
In a Life Skills classroom, we work to learn academics in much the same way as other classrooms. Unlike other classrooms, however, there are other skills like socializing with peers or choosing an activity for enjoyment that must be explicitly taught. I created this project with these skills in mind.
The games that we received from this project have been a fun and motivating way for my students to practice social skills and reinforce previously learned academic skills. One of the classroom favorites is the Pop and Add game. They love using the popper to roll the dice and counting the bones. The best part is that they have so much fun, they don't even realize they are working on math skills.
Please know how much I appreciate the opportunity to provide exciting learning materials to my students. You have brought much joy to our classroom!”

Funded Dec 2, 2015Thank you all so much for making this exciting project a possibility! I am very excited to receive the Ipad and begin using it with my students. At this point in the year, we have already made great progress. My students have worked hard all semester and I know that heading into our next semester, they will continue to grow academically. With this Ipad, my students will now have even more opportunities to learn new skills.
My class and I would like to wish all of you a very happy holiday season. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!”

Funded Nov 27, 2013Thank you all for your generous donation to our classroom. My students were very excited to receive the Galaxy tablet. We also purchased an interactive educational game that my students love to play.
We use the tablet in a variety of ways. Being able to download many different kinds of applications makes the tablet a very versatile tool in the classroom. I love having it in our room because it is the one resource that we have that is accessible to all of my students. I am able to download apps that target my students' specific learning goals. They use it to learn letters, numbers, sight words, and many other concepts. The tablet is also a great incentive for my students to work hard. They enjoy playing games that reinforce fine motor skills during their free time.
I am so thankful to all of you for providing our room with such a valuable resource!”

Learning Lifeskills
Funded Dec 30, 2012The materials you have helped donate to our classroom have made an enormous impact in our learning environment. My students are able to practice both leisure and social skills while playing the learning games we received. My students learn best when functional academics are embedded in fun learning activities. Cooperative game play using the games you have donated allow us to target specific language skills while practicing social skills with their peers.
With the alphabet manipulatives, my students can work on letter recognition and practice learning sight words. My students also love using the new art supplies that you donated. We use the stamping markers to count and reinforce one to one correspondence. We also used the new paints to make beautiful Valentine's cards for our families.
I am truly thankful for your help in providing a learning environment that my students deserve. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Blay
