  • Spectacular Small Groups

    Funded Apr 3, 2025

I want to send a huge thank you for supporting my class in their reading, writing, and math development. The items you helped purchase will be used daily in class. First grade is a foundational year, and your support will help make my students' foundation so much stronger. Again, thank you for your support as well as your kindness.”

  • Take Note for the Love of Reading

    Funded Jul 6, 2019

My students are extremely excited to begin reading, "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes." We have already begun building background on World War II and the atomic bomb that impacted so many lives in Hiroshima. Knowing the context of the story, my students are very interested in learning about Sadako's unique experience. They are equally excited about creating 1,000 paper cranes in order to keep her spirit alive, and to demonstrate their understanding of empathy for others. Your generosity has enabled me to provide my students with a very special learning experience.”

  • Caring for Our Classroom Turtles

    Funded Aug 28, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations that went towards an aquarium stand, aquatic heater, and turtle dock for our classroom turtles. My students were extremely excited when the materials arrived. They were able to watch me put together our stand and prepare our new turtle tank for Squirt and Koopa. My students enjoy our classroom turtles and love being able to interact with them everyday. Without these materials, I wouldn't have been able to give my students this unique experience of caring for living animals.”

  • Solving Problems Through STEM

    Funded May 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I am so excited to use our STEM Journals to enhance my STEM instruction and give additional learning opportunities to my students. By using these journals, my students will be exposed to challenging issues for which they will need to create solutions. They will also be able to use our Global Challenges Book Set to better understand the world around us and how they can help make it a better, safer, healthier place.”

  • Books for All

    Funded May 1, 2019

Thank you for your support and your contributions to our classroom library by helping us purchase book bins and book dividers. These items have made our classroom library much more organized and manageable. My students are able to quickly locate books that are written on their reading level or by interest. Once I completed reorganizing the library my students were able to select the appropriate books for their end of the year reading project, Cereal Box Book Report. The use of the book bins and book dividers have really made library time much more enjoyable for my students. Thank you again for your support of my students and their learning.”

  • 1,000 Paper Cranes to Build Empathy

    Funded May 3, 2019

My students were beyond excited when we received our class set of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes as well as our origami paper. They can't want to dive into Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. They are also looking forward to creating one thousand paper cranes in memory of Sadako and all of the victims of the atomic bombs that the United States dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. World War II is one of the themes for social studies so my students will be able to make cross-curricular connections. They are interested in not only learning about an important historical event, but also understanding how the actions of a group of people can have an impact on others.”

  • Turtle Time 2: Caring for Our Classroom Turtles

    Funded Mar 16, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations! The materials you have provided for us have made caring for our classroom turtles, King Koopa and Squirt, easier and more enjoyable! My students were very excited when our materials arrived. As soon as we got them, my students were able to update their habit. They started by placing the aquatic river pebbles in the bottom of the tank, followed by the moss balls. My students are also excited that the turtles are able to have light in the evening for a few hours after we leave because of the timer. Our turtles are doing very well and appear to be happy and healthy!

Thank you again for your support!”

  • Chrome Quest!

    Funded Dec 31, 2018

Thank you so much for your donations! I was able to receive three new Chromebooks for my classroom. Since they have arrived, my students have been able to complete research independently, without having to share with a classmate. So far they have begun researching how to care for our classroom pets, two baby eastern painted turtles. They have also begun researching the turtles' skeletal system, how they are able to breathe underwater for such a long time, and how land and aquatic turtles are similar and different.

Not only have my students been able to use the Chromebooks for research, they have also been able to use them for our online programs. They have become much more engaged in using Imagine Math, since I am able to allow them to use the program in school more frequently. We are also getting ready to begin completing and submitting work through Google Classroom.

My students are very excited about what we have already begun using our Chromebooks and looking forward to everything that is to come. Thank you again for your support!”

  • Turtles Love STEM Too!

    Funded Nov 12, 2018

When our baby eastern painted turtles arrived, my students were super excited! They are overjoyed and delighted to have these new additions to our classroom. They have not taken their eyes off of them since they have arrived. My students really enjoy watching them swim around their habitat, bask under their light, and monitor their safety. The classroom turtle keepers are able to feed our turtles twice a day, at the start of the school day and again at the end. They feed them a variety of vegetables, shrimp, and blood worms for a balanced diet.

In addition to being able to feed our turtles, my students are also able to observe and document their behaviors for a firsthand educational experience. They are able to keep a log of their growth, the amount of time they spend in the water, and how much they eat daily. My students have also begun researching baby eastern painted turtles to learn more about them. Once they have a few more weeks of observations and research, they will then complete a research project to share with the other classrooms in our school. Thank you for your generosity and support in providing my students with this engaging learning experience!”

  • Master STEM Mathematicians

    Funded Sep 5, 2018

Thank you for our new math resources. The students have been utilizing them in full and have enjoyed learning new math strategies. The incorporation of high quality math games into weekly lessons has increased my students overall excitement and curiosity in mathematics. Not only do the students enjoy working with their new resources, but your generosity has improved my students math scores. These new resources have helped my students realize math is fun and they look forward to ending their day on a pi note :)”
