  • HAIS Campus SEL Boost

    Funded Feb 7, 2023

Thank you all so much for contributing to my school's project! We are so excited to share these beanbag seats with our students. We know they will enjoy them and help us foster a positive school environment. Your kindness and support does not go unnoticed! Go HAIS High School!”

    With gratitude,

  • Tech for Counseling Program

    Funded Oct 21, 2020

Thank you so much for funding my Tech for Counseling Program. I am forever grateful for your support and donations and as many of you know Chavez has been labeled a "High Crisis" school which means our students are dealing with different emotional and mental needs and at different levels of needed support. With this iPad, I will be able to utilize innovative programs to interact with students on campus and our students who are learning at home virtually. I will be able to monitor interactions through a secure program used for counseling as well as reach students throughout the building without putting myself or professional possessions at risk. I will also be able to utilize the iPad to create visual resources for students including videos and infographics.”

  • Shakespeare for All!

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you for these books; we were able to complete some of our Shakespeare unit using them before Covid-19. The students really enjoyed reading the side by side translations. It was very helpful that the students can read and look at the pure Shakesperian language and be able to understand what was said. They were more engaged with the translations and had a great time making their own "modern-day" translations using text lingo, emojis all based on this awesome book! We, unfortunately, didn't use the books in their entirety but excited to see how we can use them this new school year. Thank you all for the support and helping to get books into our students' hands without them having to spend their own money.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salinas

  • Share a Book!

    Funded Aug 4, 2019

My wonderful students and I are having a blast reading, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez. The book is allowing us to connect culturally and find happiness in reading! We are so thankful that our project donors were willing to give back to our 9th grade cohort. As a 9th grade team, we enjoy teaching such a rich text without breaking our bank or the school's. A reminder that the donations given for these books goes beyond this school year. We hope to continue to use the books with our future students. Once again, thanks so much! You all are amazing!”

  • Chavez: Culture Through Reading

    Funded Jun 8, 2019

I am so very thankful to receive help from my community on getting these amazing books. The school year is off to a good start and the students are reading! They love the book and they are making so many connections! I've never had so many hands go up to volunteer to read! It truly touches my heart and makes every minute of what I do in the classroom with my students worth it! These books will go beyond this year and end up in the hands of many students to come! My students and I have had a blast reading the story of Julia together! From the bottom of my heart thank you and thank you for supporting my amazing students and the work we do together in our classroom!”

  • Send Ms. Salinas to EMPOWER Educators Conference!

    Funded Dec 7, 2018

The EmpowerEdu Conference was an amazing experience. I was surrounded by keynote speakers, other teachers, and school personnel that were inspirational and encouraging. I was able to learn so much from listening, talking, and experiencing the every day struggles and triumphs of being in education.

The conference sparked a fire in me to be the best teacher I can be. It helped me find my way because sometimes teachers lose their way. It empowered me to go into the classroom and push my students to be successful and passionate about learning. I hope that I can model what I learned in this conference to my students and see the greatness that I know my students are capable of.”

  • "Night" for 9th Graders- Literature for All!

    Funded Dec 23, 2018

Behalf of my students and Chavez High School, we are extremely grateful for donors choose and our donors for giving back to our students who deserve all the resources to be successful. It is so powerful to have a book in every students hand and let them experience reading on a personal level. The students have a renewed respect for reading and having the opportunity to read things on their own and with their peers. The students are also amazed that there are people who are willing to give back to people that they don't know. They are grateful and inspired by this great act of kindness and for that I am forever grateful. These books will touch not only this year of students but future year of students.”

    With gratitude,
