  • Let’s Ring in the New Year With New Paper

    Funded Dec 27, 2023

The bright colored construction paper has been a huge part of our current art work. We've painted Fluffy textured polar bears in Kindergarten, made symmetrical Tiger collages inspired by artist Henri Rousseau and started bright pop art inspired flower collages. Also, my fourth and fifth graders made some lovely identity jars containing drawings of cultural objects, symbols and items important to them personally.

The paper is bright and will be wonderful when it comes time to mount more artwork for display in our annual culminating arts festival. We will continue creating for a long time with your generous support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fiorino

  • Brighten Our Young Artists Day With New Supplies

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you again for all the wonderful art supplies. Paper is an everyday need in the art room and my students have enjoyed making collages and doing paintings. The sharpie markers are an absolute necessity in my art room and we use them daily. I will attach pictures of some of our recent works exploring abstract art, texture, collage and still life.

Doing large scale paintings is something I look forward to every year with my fifth graders and they gain so much confidence and skill by getting out of their comfort zones. We couldn't do it without your support- thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fiorino

  • Got the iPads, Need the Stands & Green Screen

    Funded Aug 26, 2022

Thank you for the wonderfully enriching technology and resources for our visual arts class. Students have been engaged in creating many different projects with the teachers pay teachers lessons as well as using the screen and iPad stands to create stop motion animations. Working cooperatively is a treat and they have been enjoying taking turns moving items, recording, and even 'directing' scenes with the Flip app. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten to really dive in with the green screen because of all the regulations and restrictions on which apps can be used and many are still awaiting approval. Attached are some pictures of students work.”

  • We Need Neon Paints for Our Pop Art

    Funded Apr 11, 2023

Our artwork really POPS thanks to your donation! We've been working on some engaging projects using the neon tempera cakes and the bold sharpies based on artist Andy Warhol using cartoon characters.

The results are bright and colorful and the students enjoyed using the tempera paint to make their artwork Pop!

Symmetrical butterflies in our K and 12:1 classes got to also use the new paints to decorate their large scale paintings. They also explored creating a Birds-eye view inspired by artist Georgia O'Keeffe's Sky Above the Clouds series. They learned how to show distance by using size and scale of the cloud on their page.

As we begin to wrap up the school year, I am extremely grateful for the support of my donors and their immense generosity. The end of the year arts festival will be much more colorful thanks to you.”

  • Help Immerse Our Arts Program in Watercolors

    Funded Jan 11, 2023

Watercolor painting is by far my favorite medium to teach. This year many classes from grades K-5 have enjoyed using the paints. They are learning new techniques like wax resist, creating tints, shades, how to create values and which colors contrast/complement each other.

We have explored American artists like George Rodrigue and Georgia O'Keeffe as well as French Impressionist Claude Monet.

Students even used warm and cool value scale paintings to create beautiful Japanese Notan style art.

I am so grateful for the refills as I have learned they have been discontinued by Crayola and will be harder to find in the future. Thanks to you we should have a long time before we need to restock again.”

  • We Love Books in the Art Room

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

My students have been thoroughly enjoying the new books- especially in the wake of the new Super Mario Bros movie. They are such an enriching addition to our visual art reference library.

Recently, after state testing we dove into the origami books and papers and the students loved looking up how to fold lots of different animals. They really enjoyed learning with their classmates and were teaching each other after mastering and practicing a certain fold. Some enjoyed their newfound skills so much they made themselves even larger square paper and watched videos and made more origami at home! I have attached many pictures so you can see their wonderful creations.”

  • Keep Us Collaging- Visual Artists Need Paper

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

These colorful collage papers and bins have been such a wonderful addition to our arts classroom. They have been used by all grade levels of K-5 visual arts. I have attached some of the beautiful finished work. Gumball machines, Valentine's Day hearts, Beijing Opera masks, colorful African Wax print inspired sneakers and pine tree observational drawings are a small sampling of what my artists have accomplished so far with these materials you so generously helped us to obtain.

The bins help make supply distribution and clean up a snap and they are so easy to store In-between uses. I know we will continue using them for years to come.

Thank you again for your support.”

  • Let’s Paint With Kwik Stix!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Before we head out on our winter break, I wanted to acknowledge the receipt of the Kwik Stix in a wonderful variety of sizes and colors.

So far a few classes have used them to do observational drawings of conifer branches and snow and little 3 dimensional tree sculptures. They are so handy to have and add a richness to our work that oil pastels, crayons or colored pencils don't have. Not only are they blended easily, they also dry quickly- so we were able to accomplish a great deal in one class session.

I know these will be a popular art medium for future projects: thank you for your generosity in contributing to these enriching art supplies.

I wish you a happy new year 🥳”

  • Dough You Like Fine Motor Skills?

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

We're DOUGHlited by the new dough and accessories- the Kindergarten, first grade and special Ed self contained classes have had an amazing sensory experience using the materials your generosity helped provide. They especially enjoyed what they've been calling the 'potato head parts' and have been pinching, rolling, pounding and shaping such wonderful creations. There is so much creative problem solving going on as well as sharing, taking turns and group discussions.

Thank you so much for helping provide these enriching materials and I know they will be enjoyed many times this year and into the future.”

  • Elementary Artists Need Watercolor Paper-Let's Paint Without Limits Pt 1

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Painting can be many things- expressive, therapeutic, experimental, calming, and enriching. This year we were in need of all these qualities in our classroom more than ever.

Thankfully, these watercolor papers provided generously from donors helped us have amazing art experiences this year.

2nd graders created beautiful still life collages of watermelon inspired by artist Frida Kahlo and brightly colored Flamingo paintings. 4th graders painted abstract geometric shaped paintings and neutral colored organic shaped paintings.

Kindergarten artists made brightly colored Seahorses inspired by illustrator Eric Carle.

The creating the artwork was a very enriching experience we are so grateful for. Attached are some photos of our art on display and in progress.”
