  • Drama Is Creativity, Literacy, And Learning

    Funded Feb 3, 2014

I am humbled and grateful that I have been able to connect with great donors like yourselves. I have been doing as much as possible to encourage the arts, dramatic expression, and integrate technology along with it. My students relish the opportunity to become their stories. They gladly volunteer to use the ipad to film and have become expert editors. I hope these experiences, which you have made possible, allow them to explore these skills as possible careers. At the very least, they have shown me a great enthusiasm for the creative process of acting and movie making so that is a huge success already. Thank you for making it all possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Reyes

  • 3D Art And Design

    Funded Jan 25, 2014

This is amazing. My students and I are so excited about our 3D printer. Never in our wildest dreams did we believe that we would be creating things in our classroom. The future is here and we're part of it. This is all possible because of generous donors.

Public education is in constant financial crisis. We risk falling further and further behind in terms of STEM education. That's why we love Donors Choose and people like you, who help even the playing field. My students are given the chance to keep up with the latest technology.

Again, we would like to thank you for helping us and future students.”

  • Real World Math and Finances

    Funded Sep 6, 2013

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the kind donation you have made my children and I.

When our materials first arrived the children had many questions, "Is this for us?" "Will we have to give them back?" I explained to them that there are people in the world besides just their immediate families and community members, like teachers and police officers that wished to see them succeed. They seemed to understand. My children were overjoyed and confused at the same time. The majority of them do not have access to this kind of technology at home and they know for sure that it hadn't previously been available to them at school. Thank you for your immense generosity.”

  • Projector To Enhance Science And Math Education

    Funded Jun 14, 2013

Technology in the classroom is incredibly vital in developing tomorrow's learners and leaders. Without the ability to engage with today's gadgets, success in the professional world is limited. Having a projector has helped students to learn visually and understand precisely during math and science lessons. Students have used the projector to share steps and rationale with their classmates, a difficult task to master. In addition, the projector has been paired with our classroom iPad to show online pictures, videos, and student generated research notes with the class. Thank you for making this all possible!”

  • iPad Equals Excitement in Math and Science

    Funded Jun 10, 2013

Having an iPad in the classroom has greatly reinforced and enhanced our math and science learning. I have tried to provide opportunities to use the iPad applications offered for free and some at affordable prices thru the iTunes store and students have responded very well to the technology. The iPad has been an excellent tool for research, creating graphs and diagrams, and recording experiments and scientific results. Our learning has come alive in a fun and engaging way just as planned. Thank you for the great donations!”

  • Financial Literacy: Must See It To Understand It

    Funded Sep 6, 2013

I would like say that this project has been very important to my students. I had planned many opportunities for them to practice using the iPad mini. Needless to say, they have embraced this new technology and have even asked that I do everything possible to acquire more. They were experts after their second try! I can't wait to see them get even better and I know that their research ability and presentations will really demonstrate their excitement for learning financial literacy. Thank you so much!”

  • Picture No More Bullying In Schools

    Funded Nov 16, 2012

I wish to express my extreme gratitude for the generosity you have bestowed upon our classroom. Having the ability to print within our class is incredible. The book Bullying in Schools has been truly eye opening. My students have had a great time exploring the topic of Bullying and have developed a great deal of understanding and empathy for those that suffer because of it. They are now budding photographers that take great pride in their creations as they use their camera as well. Thank you for helping to bring this creativity and understanding into my classroom.”

  • Screen Out Bullying Behavior!

    Funded Oct 11, 2012

Technology can truly be a magically motivating tool in a classroom of English Language learners such as my own. Since receiving your donations, I have seem a resurgence in enthusiasm for class projects and learning in general. The book "Bullying in Schools" is full of gut wrenching accounts of children making poor choices. It has put my students' own behavior in check as they do not want to be identified as bullies. Thank you very much for believing in me but a special thanks for believing in my students.”

  • Your Creativity is Picture Perfect

    Funded Aug 27, 2012

I am so grateful for the wonderful donation of a new high end digital camera for my classroom. My students have never experienced photography equipment of this caliber. It is exciting to see them acting as actual photographers and showcasing their wonderful photography. My school is experiencing a budget crisis of epic proportions. Thanks to donors like yourself, I am able to expose my students to 21st century technology. On behalf of a very grateful community of learners, thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Reyes

My students are AMAZING fourth graders, who deserve the very best! They are fun, energetic and creative, and I love to showcase their spectacular talents. The school where I teach is considered "high poverty," so some students do not have the same opportunities as others. Everyone qualifies for free lunch in the Title 1 program. Although my students are not diverse in race and background, they are all creative by nature and very different in the way they learn. Our urban school is located in a community that supports the arts, STEM, and extracurricular activities. Many students come into school looking forward to simple things like taking a photo, singing a song, or getting a hello from a friend. For some of them, this interaction is the only positive part of their day.
