  • Students Need Technology for Educational Videos

    Funded Mar 26, 2018

We are grateful for the trust you have on our classroom and for the generous contribution of technology tools. We have been planning, scripting, and recording educational videos for a few weeks and it has been a very challenging experience. We have set deadlines for ourselves and made sure to work as teams to accomplish our tasks. By making as close as possible to real-life filming, we have found that it is difficult but rewarding. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to mature as learners and to have advanced tools in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Reyes

  • Science and Art, Inquiry With Creativity

    Funded Dec 29, 2017

Thank you very much, on behalf of our whole school community. We are in the middle of a tremendously challenging transition into STEAM learning. Our students and families have made it clear that they want our community's children to have equal opportunities to succeed and bring their family out of poverty. We believe the key is to let children express their creativity through art while integrating the sciences. You have been instrumental in making this possible with your contribution of art materials. We will continue to pursue our mission and make the arts a focal point of our instruction. Our students deserve it.”

  • Science Exploration

    Funded Nov 16, 2017

We thank you for the trust and generosity that you have displayed towards our classroom. We have taken the laptop around campus and it has been a valuable tool in our sustainable energy learning. We have used it to catalog water and food sources, waste and pollution, and areas within our school that can be used to grow food without overwhelming our utilities and natural resources. Our campus is in the process of being transformed with a Ecology space that will really make our learning come to life. Thank you for being our partner in our learning endeavors. We appreciate you!”

  • Designing Environments in Virtual Reality

    Funded Oct 19, 2016

Our school is on the cutting edge of new educational technology with our new VR system. Students have helped in downloading VR software and experiences that have allowed us to take trips all over the world. Our first stop was New York's Central Park because it is so well known in our school. We are trying to model our own green space creation after New York's iconic space. Thank you for this new technology and the opportunities it has enabled in our inner city classroom. We are looking forward to more creating and virtual trips in our future.”

  • New Backpacks to Protect Our Learning Tools

    Funded Nov 21, 2016

Hello! It has been a fantastic few months with every student proudly wearing their new backpack. We have had many discussions about how to protect our pack and the learning tools that we use daily. More importantly, we have discussed how important it is to develop good and healthy habits in our lives. Giving and appreciation of what we have are both at the top of the list. We know that we are truly blessed to work together everyday and become successful learners. You are now part of our team in every way because you enabled these great discussions. Thank you for your generosity and trust!”

  • Fitbit Fitness Equals Kid Power

    Funded Sep 23, 2016

I am very grateful for these FitBit devices. It has been so much fun getting my students to move, move, move! They have formed exercise and walking teams and develop weekly challenges for steps, distance and calories burned. For the first time ever, they are taking their health and wellness seriously. I know that none of this healthy school fun would have been possible without your support. Thank you for this campaign to bring healthy habits to our school children. You have started them on a path towards longevity and happiness. Thank you!”

  • Staying Indoor Active With GoNoodle

    Funded Aug 26, 2016

I am always overwhelmed with joy when I get to open a box of new materials in front of many happy students and I know that there is a very generous and kind person that made it possible. Thank you very much for allowing us to receive our new television and the movement materials. It is now Winter time and that makes it very challenging to go out for physical education. Your donations allow us to blend technology with fun juggling balls, scarves and batons and get our activity time without leaving the classroom. All I have to say is "GoNoodle time!" and our class erupts with cheer. Thank you for making all of this possible.”

  • Let's Move, Let's Play, Active All Day

    Funded Aug 19, 2016

Thank you for your generosity! The Hokki stools are great. Constant opportunities for movement has made it easier for students to focus. Most of our rigid, traditional school chairs are gone and were quickly forgotten. The new recess equipment has really motivated our students to move. Our recess has been a lot more fun. Finally, our organizational racks look great in the classroom and will keep our equipment safe and new for many years to come. On behalf of a great group of kids, thank you very much!”

  • Let's Move, Let's Play, Active All Day 2

    Funded Aug 19, 2016

On behalf of our whole school and community, thank you! We have never benefited from so much generosity in support of such a worthy cause. Our students' health is a constant worry and challenge. Our community is low-income and falls into the trap of unhealthy fast food and low levels of activity. In the past two months, our students have had so much fun both indoors and out. The Hokki stools are the best. Students are sitting and balancing, constantly moving, and working on their core. It has made a measurable impact on student engagement. Thank you!”

  • Stop-Motion Art, Math, Science, And Fun!

    Funded Dec 7, 2015

I wish to say thank you for all of the technology resources that were funded with this innovative project. Our students have been busily creating storyboards, building sets, and filming short stop-motion movies. We have presented our creations and have had very positive reviews from our classmates and community. During our open house celebration, students showcased their creations and were able to shine as film-makers. Thank you for making this celebration possible. Our inner city kids have had inspired ideas and presented them with pride.”

My students are AMAZING fourth graders, who deserve the very best! They are fun, energetic and creative, and I love to showcase their spectacular talents. The school where I teach is considered "high poverty," so some students do not have the same opportunities as others. Everyone qualifies for free lunch in the Title 1 program. Although my students are not diverse in race and background, they are all creative by nature and very different in the way they learn. Our urban school is located in a community that supports the arts, STEM, and extracurricular activities. Many students come into school looking forward to simple things like taking a photo, singing a song, or getting a hello from a friend. For some of them, this interaction is the only positive part of their day.
