Movie Makers -- Making Learning Magical!
Funded Apr 24, 2012Thank you so much for your donation of a video camera tripod, memory card, printer, and ink cartridges to my classroom. My students have already begun to create videos about what they are learning. They like to watch themselves on the videos, and I like to have evidence of their Spanish speaking abilities. I played some of their videos for their parents at our school's recent open house, and their parents were amazed! The students also love to see their pictures in the hallway, where they have written (in Spanish) about the fractions they found amongst their photos.
Your generosity has enabled my students to take their learning to a higher level. Instead of just taking tests or answering questions about what they are learning, they are now excited to complete projects in which they synthesize information and present it in new ways. Your gift is helping my students show off how much they know!
Thank you, again, for your kindness in helping to provide exciting learning opportunities to the children I teach. The materials you donated are helping to make learning a hands-on process in my classroom. ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Aravena
Budding Scientists Need a Garden
Funded Jun 10, 2011Thank you so much for the soil, seeds, and planting containers. My students have been so excited to conduct soil experiments to learn about the different types of soil and to plant seeds! They are having a great time charting the growth of their plants. My students are also learning first-hand about the life cycle of plants by watching seeds turn into plants with flowers and then fruits. Very soon we'll be able to cut open a pepper and find all of the seeds inside!
Thank you for donating hands-on learning to my classroom. My students would have a much less interesting time in science class without you. When they are able to participate in experiments rather than read about them or see pictures of them, my students are better engaged in the learning process. Thank you for helping to engage my students in real, meaningful learning about plants. We couldn't have done it without you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Aravena
