iPods: They're not just for Kanye Anymore
Funded Nov 9, 2011This is just a small token of my gratitude, and the gratitude of my students for your generous contribution to our project. My students are so excited to use the iPods we were able to purchase with your support. Not only does it allow them to receive the modification of orally administered assessments consistently, even when I am working with other students during testing, it allows them to do so discreetly, without attracting the unwanted attention of their peers.
With the budget cuts to education in Texas, our school was facing a shortfall of millions of dollars. Without the external support of donors like you, we never would have been able to facilitate this support system for our students with individualized education plans. Among a population that is already neglected, they fall even farther behind if they are not provided the additional supports they need to be successful and master grade level content.
Thank you so much for helping my students reach their goals. ”

Ex-cell-ent Plant and Animal Cells
Funded Mar 25, 2011Thank you so much for contributing to our project Ex-cell-ent Plant and Animal Cells. My students were so excited when our models arrived, and really enjoyed having a larger than life size model to compare to the drawings and images we were forced to rely on in the past. Students really enjoyed comparing the two models, and being able to really see the difference in size in a plant and animal cell vacuole, really get to see that the plant cell has a wall and chloroplast and the animal cell doesn't, and try their hand and identifying each cell part from memory.
They also really enjoyed making their own models of cells, and seeing the analogies between cell parts and the materials used to represent them helped them move from comprehension to synthesis, and even evaluation as we discussed strengths and weaknesses of our models, and if there were other materials that could represent specific cell parts even more accurately.
Thank you so much for your dedication to my students' learning. We truly would not have been able to accomplish as much as we did without your generous contributions. ”

Fascinating Ferns: Tickle Me Plants
Funded Dec 15, 2010Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our project, Fascinating Ferns. They gave my students the opportunity to learn hands on not only about how plants grow and what resources they need to survive, but also provided a meaningful and long lasting experience with plant tropisms and the function of the vacuole in plant cells.
Our school, like many others in Texas, is experiencing a budget crunch in the upcoming year and beyond, and it gives me hope that my students can still have access to great resources because of the generosity of people like you.
Thank you so much again. My students and me are eternally grateful.”

Magnificent Mealworms
Funded Dec 4, 2010It is with sincerest gratitude that I am writing to thank you for the mealworms, whiteboards, and colored pencils that you so generously contributed to providing for my classroom. My students and I use the whiteboards regularly during guided practice and to check understanding of previously learned concepts. This allows both for student engagement and for me to get immediate and reliable data regarding what my students do and do not understand.
I had initially planned for the mealworms to be a part of the summative lab for our unit on Response to Stimuli, but they've become so much more. Not only were my students able to perform a classic experiment and see real, live organisms respond to various stimuli, they have become somewhat of classroom pets, and my students are learning every day what it takes to be responsible stewards of our resources in the lab, and take turns ensuring that the colony we built for our mealworms is clean and they have fresh food.
Classrooms all over Texas are waiting anxiously to hear what our fate will be when the legislature announces the final numbers for the budget cut. With continued support from generous donors like you, I know that quality instruction will continue to be possible in low income classrooms. ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Prevost
