Stepping into a New Year
Funded Aug 16, 2019Thank you so much for your kindness and donating to our classroom. My students where thrilled as the beginning of the year started off. They came in each day and received something new to keep them successful in their every day learning here at Lincoln Street School.
The folders that were donated to my students are used daily. They have folders for each subject and homework. These help keep their papers organized. During indoor recess and project times like in science and social studies, the students use their new coloring tools. They love having brand new tool to make their work beautiful. As they grow as writers, they will be using the ink to print their final writing projects. They are very excited to see their work in black and white!
Finally, I would like to say, thank you for helping my students feel ready to learn as they entered into third grade. Many of them need this support and it is great to live in a community that wants to help our youth. As a class, we are full of gratitude for making this 2019 - 2020 school year amazing as the very start of their year.”

Kicking Off Third Grade
Funded Aug 10, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations for my third-grade students. They were all able to begin the year with everything they needed and without any worry. That made their transition back to school so much better. All my students had their own pencils, folders, notebooks, and coloring tools. They were so happy to know that people who do not visit our school everyday care about what they need to learn. I am for one very thankful for this.
My students use their donations every day. We have put every folder to use. They have homework folders, Work in Progress Folders, and Work on Writing Folders, Math folders, and Social Studies/Science Folders.
As we begin writing, they will be placing their finished work in the binders to show how they grow through the year with writing.
The pencils that were donated are the most used item as you might suspect. They love having a community bin of pencils and two students each week take pride in being the pencil people and sharpen them. As we begin multiplication, the expo markers will be to great use as we do ice cream math to master our facts! The coloring items are used daily. Sometimes they are illustrating for their wiring, using them for a break, or coloring in maps for social studies. This donation as greatly impacted my students. None of them worry about having to bring things in from home or where they are coming from. It had made a great start to our year as my students kick of third grade on the right foot; completely prepared.”

Reading Center Success
Funded Nov 17, 2017When our table was delivered it was during the school day. Our custodian brought the boxes in our room and my students' eyes popped open. We each took a turn opening parts of the boxes. Their excited was amazing.
We named our new table the jellybean table. It is where we hold small group learning, like math groups and guided reading. It has helped us tremendously and our learning environment. The table we had before, would rock. We would have to drag chairs to the table. Now we have a stable table and sturdy chairs, which takes away a distraction and allows for more focus on learning!
We use this table daily. One moment, the first day we did our reading rounds, my students were proud of their classroom and excited to come over. The excitement to sit at the jellybean table is still intact! Students love the small group time in that part of the room, truly because it's something they know others worked hard to give them.
We are always learning in room 11 at Lincoln Street School. The year will continue with guided reading, social studies projects, math, and science experiments. The table and chairs donated are always part of the moving pieces in our classroom. I love having it in our classroom just as much as the children. It's amazing what a table and chairs does for a learning environment. I along with my students are grateful for those who donated!”
