Special Education- Anger Management Library
Funded Oct 18, 2013Thank you so much for your donation! I've created a basket with the books in a quiet corner in my room. My students know that when they are frustrated, they can go to this safe corner with these books. Many of them have favorites that they have read over and over again. They're slowly learning how to control their anger, through the help of these engaging books. The books offer many open-ended questions and scenarios that we've acted out in class. They've been a great resource to engage the students about anger and help them adopt new ways to deal with their angry thoughts and feelings. Thank you for providing my students with the opportunity how to control their emotions and manage their anger.”

Special Education Classroom - Art, Cooking and Basics Needed
Funded Oct 4, 2013Thank you very much for your generous donation. Your donation has funded some desperately needed supplies from art supplies (markers, colored pencils, crayons, water colors) to a laminator, laminating film and even a griddle cooking. These supplies allowed my class to make posters for the African American History month assembly. My students absolutely love our new supplies because they allow them to express themselves! I love them because I can devote more time to planning and teaching instead of spending time making my own materials!
Thank you for believing in a Free and Appropriate Public Education for ALL students!”

Special Education Classroom - Therapeutic Games
Funded Oct 10, 2013Now that my class has been using the resources you generously helped fund, I would like to express my gratitude for your generosity. We have played the Therapeutic Games several times at this point, grouping the students in several different ways. Each time we play, my students are excited, specifically because we have a variety of games. Grouping the students with one another and watching positive interactions with the least likely pair puts a smile on my face. The Fitness Dice is a class favorite and are part of our daily routine, allowing us to have a mini-brain break and burn some energy when we start to get itchy-scratchy after sitting for a long period of time. Teaching with a lack of resources can be frustrating but when I look to people like you, who so generously support public education, I feel inspired and motivated to push through for my little learners. Again, I appreciate you interest and support of my students!”

Special Education Needs Technology!
Funded Mar 26, 2013Thank you all for your generous gift! By helping fund this project, not only were you able to bring technology from the current century into my classroom but you were also able to help give my students gain a sense of community. I shared my wish list with my students and every day, several times a day, they would ask me to check to see if more gifts came in. Each time we checked, they were in awe by your generosity. Your generosity was able to give my students a glimpse of hope, community and and love from strangers. Their appreciation for this projector will be much more then if it was there from the start of the year. I promise to pay it forward, within my classroom and out!!”

Special Education - Teaching Organization!
Funded Mar 16, 2013As a coworker of mine recently said, it's unfortunate that we live in a time where public education is not funded to provide the basics. Public school teachers, especially in Philadelphia, have to beg for just the necessities.
Thankfully, there are people who understand and value the importance of education. With your donation, the students in my class will directly be impacted in a positive way. Within the first week of receiving the items in this package, I am confident that my students will be able to be more organized. In their organization, confidence and pride in their school will bloom!!
Thank you for your part in "making it happen in Manayunk!"”

Special Education - Grades 2-4
Funded Mar 11, 2013I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project! It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching all children, especially those who are in an Emotional Support classroom.
With the supplies that you've help fund, all of my students will be able to actively be engaged at their own levels in math and literacy. These tools will be used daily and for many years, as my goal was to stretch every dollar.
Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these tools to the children.”

Special Education - Money Matters!
Funded Mar 20, 2013Thank you very much for your generous donations! The students in my class are going to be ecstatic when the packages arrive to our classroom. They are going to be most ecstatic when they are able to confidently count money and know the amount to hand a cashier. This bit of independence that you helped provide them will last a lifetime. As a Special Education teacher, I want to provide each of my students an equal opportunity in life and in education. I especially want to give them independence. Your gift is much appreciated.”
