All students deserve to learn to love reading! Jefferson Elementary School is unique in that it only serves all the 5th Graders in the Township of Union Public Schools. In our school, 59% of students receive free/reduced lunch and 20% of students receive special education services. We are also a minority-majority school with 51% of students identifying as Black or African American, 29% of students identifying as Hispanic, and 8% of students identifying as Asian. The Jefferson Library has been without a consistent librarian for the last three years. Unfortunately, this means the library is filled with outdated books that do not truly reflect our diverse population. As a certified library media specialist, I am excited to help breathe new life into our library. We look forward to working with you to ensure our school library matches the diversity and vitality of our school!
