  • Mindful Art Room Organization

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

Thank you so much for helping mindfully organize our Art Room! We were able to use the clear bins and plastic cups to color coordinate all of our art supplies; so our ninth grade students could easily see and access supplies independently. The paper towels, broom, dust pan, and lysol spray were a wonderful help! We have never had such a sparkling classroom! We are doing our best to stay especially mindful as we have returned from the pandemic. Your generosity has allowed us to have a smoothly running year in Art.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morgera

  • The Studio Art Essentials

    Funded Jan 25, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations to our classroom! This particular project request was for essentials in the art room. Often, instruction is slowed down when unstacked with the essentials. We have needed almost triple the amount of essentials we are normally supplied due to covid protocols this year. Your donations allows us a more seamless experience free from frustrations waiting to restock! We have been properly cleaning and sanitizing with the paper towels and lysol wipes donated. The sharpeners and sharpies now allow the students to have access to their own supply of materials, so sharing time is as minimal as possible. This all allows students to continue to socially distance in the classroom and properly sanitize their work stations after each class. Your thoughtfulness allows us a smooth transition into the Spring Semester. Thank you for your investment in Art Education and my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morgera

  • Art Supplies Needed for Students' First-Ever HS Studio Art Class

    Funded Dec 14, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations! Students at our school were so excited to be using such professional supplies. In the pictures you will see students' finished artworks for a Black History Month art project, in which we used the paper and colored pencils. For this project, students had to pick an inspirational person to create a pencil portrait of, and then created a colored-pencil pattern design in the background.

We used over 350 sheets of paper for my five classes in this project, so the high-quality drawing paper your donation contributed to purchasing was used right away! Students were able to blend, create value, and execute their drawing techniques learned in colored pencil from your donation. Without this paper, we would not have been able to work in the large size we did to create impactful work!

Lastly, the additional materials including clay and brushes are going to be used for the end-of-year project, as we finish up the school year in these next few weeks. Most of our students have never taken an art class before and with your kind donation of supplies, they were able to experience a full Studio Art experience. I can't thank you enough for helping support my students on their educational journey!”

  • Help Create The "Painting Studio" Art Room Experience!

    Funded Oct 3, 2015

Thank you so much for your kind contributions to our classroom. Many of our students are taking art class for the first time and are having a great Studio Art experience thanks to you! Students learned to create a series of techniques using watercolor and acrylic paint with the variety brush packs. Students also learned Color Theory and Elements of Art with the bright posters donated. Lastly, the smocks purchased with your donations protected our students' uniforms. Your donations have allowed us to purchase supplies we would not otherwise be able to since we are Title 1 school. We are grateful for your gift of art to our community. Thank you again for supporting me as I continue in this new journey. Your generosity has contributed to our success in art this year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morgera

CBHS is a Title I school in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, New York. Most students reside in Brooklyn, and have aspirations for careers in the medical fields. In their Sophomore year, students may apply to our competitive CTE programs offered in Nursing, Medical, and Dental; which allows them to work right out of college or have advanced experience in their field of study before college. Our student body is roughly 98% African American, and 64% female. We have partnerships with the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Gardens, both located just across the street. This allows wonderful, unique opportunities for daily art enrichment and inspiration for our students. The school's mission is to mold competitive global citizens by strengthening their literacy, numeracy, technological, decision making abilities, public health awareness, academics, health careers, fine arts, STEM, mindfulness and extracurricular activities.
