Students that I service are special needs, interrelated, that have not been exposed to a hands-on science or technology classroom. The students are eager to learn and having a hands-on classroom will be helpful with classroom management and self-esteem. They attend a low-income school where all free field trips are monetary. One hundred percent of the population of students are on free lunch. We are considered a low income community with different learning styles in our students. Items needed for our 5 Star Science Project are items that the students will need to be able to create or recreate to enhance prior knowledge and new materials. The students are smart but their knowledge needs to be enhanced with activities that require will allow them to be creative and innovative.
