The Making of Future Citizens
Funded Aug 18, 2022The impact of your donation was immediate. The students had been wanting to paint and when the paints arrived, they wanted to do it that day. Every day since then we have painted. The pictures dry and then displayed in the classroom. Even a reluctant painter wants to have his picture displayed for all to see! The easel is used to display big books that are used in our social skills group. It has made it easier for the teacher to hold the book while she is reading from it.
What will be next for this class? We will see as the year progresses. They will learn the letters of the alphabet, count to 20 and write their names. They will learn to incorporate other preschoolers as new students join the class.
Thank you for joining in with us on our journey of discovery.”

Funded Aug 3, 2020Thank you for contributing to my classroom project. Your contribution helped finance materials for my classroom.
As you may have heard, COVID-19 has changed the way classrooms operate. For the very first time, each one of my students had their own materials. A clear, plastic box was purchased to store all of their supplies and put in their cubbies. Just like the "big kids".
What a surprise when each student discovered that those materials belonged to them!
Should the school transfer into distance learning mode, the supplies will travel with the student and the work will continue.
You have helped us make this year better and taken one worry away.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Kleenex® Brand and 3 other donors.Art Supplies for Budding Young Artists
Funded Jul 2, 2018The materials that you so generously donated money for are used during center time when the students have free choices to interact and socialize.
Because the materials where received at the beginning of the school year, the students did not know what it was like to NOT have art supplies. However, after a few weeks of school and seeing the supplies being stored in the open, they were asking to paint. I found a time to comply with their request. Some of the students were very precise in their painting and others liked to see how many different colors they could put on a page!
I noticed that working on the projects enabled me to work on social skills and manners. Life skills, such as taking turns and waiting for a particular color or stencil is being learned.”

Kitchen Essentials
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for your donation. My students are enjoying the new kitchen center.
When it first arrived, my students squealed with delight and my academic lesson was over. They immediately got the food out and started arranging the food in the refrigerator. Previous staff members saw the old kitchen center being carted away by the maintenance department and wandered into the room. I had an opportunity to explain to them about Donors Choose and how it helps public school teachers. I was then kicked out of my room by my students with a guard posted to make sure I didn't peek until the big reveal! It was so exciting!
The new center has brightened that corner of the room so much that I realize that I will need to paint the shelves over the summer. You have made my room so much brighter that I have one final project for art supplies. Thank you.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple and 7 other donors.Technology for Tots
Funded Mar 23, 2017Since we starting using the new technology, my students are able learn their alphabet and numbers independently. The school's information technician specialist was able to recommend a free program that he uses with his own family and my students love it! This time of year it is difficult for the children to focus, but I have no behavior issues when they are working of the computers. It makes no difference whether the child is three years old or cognitively impaired, I know that they are learning.
Because this program can also be used at home, the learning can also be continued after school hours and during the summer. There is also a component where I can check on the student's progress. Continuing education in the home is now done by computer and despite the high poverty level of my community, they all have access to personal computers in their homes.
Thank you for your part in my classroom's education and the impact that your contribution will have in my community.”

Reading Pads for Eager Readers
Funded Sep 21, 2016Dear Donors:
The impact of your donation was felt as soon as the new items arrived. The reading pads (the children called them "ninja shields") were a big hit! Everyone wanted to sit on them. The brightly colored pads attracted their interest and were just the right size for their bodies and soft to sit upon. The new books grabbed their attention, while the students began their identification of the alphabet.
Sorting is also a skill that needs to be taught. The new clear containers with the lids enables the materials to be sorted and stored for the future without being lost.
Thank you for contributing to the learning of my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Harvey
