  • Flexible Seating = Successful Students

    Funded Oct 31, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our project. We are enjoying our flexible seating every day. The kids are so excited to come to school and get to sit on the seat they feel the most comfortable.

The rug is so soft that the kids argue who gets to sit on it. It makes doing group projects so much more comfortable. They are so grateful to have such awesome places to sit and collaborate in our room.

They have found new uses for the stools as Chromebook stands so they can type easier. Thanks again for the amazing donation to our classroom!”

  • The Force Is Strong, Magnets For 3RD Grade!

    Funded Sep 6, 2018

Thank you so much for your donations to our project! I am so lucky to live in a wonderful town with people who support me and my kids, as well as family and generous donors from around the United States.

In third grade, one of the NGSS science standards is to learn about magnetism. My school district doesn't supply us with any materials for all of my kids to use. So I wanted to make sure each of my kids can experience magnetism. They are so fascinated by it and I really wanted to foster that curiosity. We received the magnets and kits. I got out the wands right away because there are enough for the whole class to use. The loved playing with them. They discovered that the magnets float on the ring.

We are going to dig into the kits that I got later on in the year when we cover the unit. My kids and I are looking forward to using the kits to build cars, and make magnetic picture frames. They are so excited that our class gets to experience these wonderful things.

Thank you again so much for making this happen! I couldn't have done it without you!”

  • Setting 3rd Graders Up for Success!!

    Funded Oct 16, 2017

Thank you so much for our supplies. The kids were so excited when they saw the boxes coming into our room and couldn't wait to see what was in them. I explained that they were supplies for them to be successful in school. They were so happy to have all of the pencils. They work really hard and write a lot. So the pencils were an amazing gift!

The next day we got to put our "fake whiteboards" together. They loved getting to put them together themselves. I gave them the Expo dry erase markers and they immediately started doing math problems. They love to make them up and solve them just to use the boards and pens. These have been so valuable because they get excited using the whiteboards and doing math problems. They always ask to use them, even when it's not necessary.

Recently we got to make red poppies for Veterans Day. We used the paints to create the poppy and send it to a soldier and told them thank you for all they do. It was wonderful to have those supplies to make a difference.

Thank you again for supplying our classroom with the items they need to be successful 3rd graders.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marshall

  • Seeing The Results!

    Funded Oct 13, 2016

My students and I are so grateful for your donation! When the boxes arrived they were so excited and curious as to what was in them. Once we opened them up they couldn't believe that someone would give us money to buy what we need.

Within a week we were looking up our standards and using our Data Folders. We have made goals on what we want to learn about and get better at. All of the kids would like to get better at reading so we made a chart so they can track their progress. We used the sticky notes to write down their words per minute. We have used the binder paper to write reflections about how we are progressing on the 3rd grade standards. The folders have worked out so well. The kids are getting ready to do another round of testing so they can use their data folders again. They really love learning and being involved in their success.

Once again, thank you so very much for your generous donation! We are forever appreciative.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marshall

  • BeGLAD, We've Got Learning To Do!

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

    Dear Donors,

You have no idea how much your donation is appreciated! My kids were so excited to receive our materials. We started a unit on habitats in the Arctic region. With your help were were able to use the GLAD strategies effectively. There was plenty of chart paper so were could mark our favorite animals with the chart markers. We used the twistable crayons for the pictures we added to our informational writing. We also used the colored paper for our literacy reinforcers. They loved collecting them and trading them with other kids.

We made sure we treated the supplies with care so we can use them again. They look forward to learning because we have the right supplies to do the job. I can't thank you enough for the amazing gift you have given these kids. I have to say thank you as well because it enables me to teach these kids the way they deserve to be taught.

    Thank you again so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marshall

  • Chromebooks for Creative Learners

    Funded Dec 8, 2015

We are so thankful for your donation of 2 Chromebooks to our classroom. Since we have received them, the students have been researching their American Hero. Everyday they are so excited to get the Chromebooks out and use them to find out specific information on their hero. We have used them not only to look up information on their heroes, but to learn how to write an email, use Google Docs, and communicate with another 3rd grade class.

I have some reluctant learners, but knowing they will get to use the Chromebooks has made them try harder and want to do better work. They get the opportunity to use the Chromebooks when they have earned a reward for doing excellent work. It's a wonderful motivation to some students.

Everyday I learn something new. Because everyday I have a student telling me something they learned while doing research on the Chromebooks. They love using Google Hangouts to talk to other 3rd grade classes too. They write down their questions they want to ask them, so they don't forget. They are so engaged in everything they are doing on their new devices. Thank you again for your generous donations! Your thoughtfulness is truly a gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marshall

We live in a small rural town in Northern California. My kids don't know beyond our small town, there is a big world out there filled with opportunity and promise. I teach at a school with one of the highest rates of free and reduced price lunches in the state. On a daily basis, I am trying to teach kids, while also addressing some of the most basic social, emotional, and nutritional needs that you would expect the home to be meeting. I love the kids I teach. I feel that I make a real difference in their lives.
