  • Print, Cut, Laminate, Repeat: Supplies for Personalized Learning

    Funded May 24, 2021

Now more than ever, students are returning to in-person learning after almost a year and a half of distance or hybrid learning. In turn, my students need differentiated materials more than they ever have.

Thanks to your support, we have the tools we need to be successful! I've spent time finding and creating materials to support the wide range of skills and needs within my classroom. Some students need materials at a lower grade level, while others need on-level practice or enrichment work. We now have the cardstock, laminating materials, and other tools necessary to create these independent and partner games and learning activities.

As we move into a more "normal" school year, my students will greatly benefit from the tools you've so generously provided for them. Thank you from all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Angie Stewart

  • We Like to Move It, Move It!

    Funded May 4, 2021

To say this past school year was challenging would be a huge understatement. With COVID restrictions and social distancing requirements, a favorite "subject" - recess - looked little like the recess students knew from years past.

Thanks to you, however, students have the tools to make recess engaging, even during independent activities. Each student received their own jump rope, which led to many jumping competitions and even came in handy during PE class. Sidewalk chalk allowed many of my students to express their artistic sides, and bubbles gave students a chance to relax during mask breaks outside.

These tools may seem simple, but their impact was felt by each one of my students. Thank you for bringing fun and some sense of normalcy to a difficult time!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Angie Stewart

  • Third Graders Need a Classroom Library Refresh!

    Funded May 6, 2021

THANK YOU for your kind donations to help make our classroom library an inviting and organized space!

Before this project was funded, we did not have enough book bins to sort and hold many favorite books. This meant that books either ended up in the wrong bins, or were set aside to display at a later time. In turn, books were hard to find and the classroom library was more challenging to navigate.

Thanks to you, we now have the bins and labels needed to give each book a home and to make finding and returning books easier than before.

We appreciate all you do for our classroom!”

  • Help Refresh Our Well-Loved Library Books!

    Funded May 19, 2021

Thank you so very much for your unwavering support of our classroom and our love of reading!

To say that literal shrieks of excitement came from my students when stacks of Amazon boxes arrived at our classroom would be an understatement. As we unpackaged and displayed our new books, students pored over crisp copies of their favorite series.

When schools closed suddenly in March 2020, I sent home stacks of books with students to encourage home reading during what we thought would be a brief closure. Fast forward almost a year and a half, and many of the beloved books students brought home were missing from our library. With your support, we have rebuilt collections of favorite series like The Babysitters Club, Dog Man, and Harry Potter. In turn, new groups of students are able to enjoy these favorite page-turners.

Thank you again for your support of reading and public school students!”

  • Windows and Mirrors: Diverse Books for Third Graders (Part 1)

    Funded May 3, 2021

I cannot tell you how excited I am that this project was fully funded! Thanks to you, our classroom is filled with beautiful, diverse books that have been and will continue to be shared with students for many years to come.

Books like "One" and "You Will Be My Friend!" teach social emotional skills, which are more critical than ever. Pride in one's heritage can be felt in "Eyes That Kiss in the Corners" and "Hair Like Mine." These books highlight the diverse backgrounds of my students, while also providing a window into the lives of others.

Thanks to your donations, my students have dozens of books to read, enjoy, and reflect upon. We are grateful for your support!”

  • Mystery Books for Third Grade Super Sleuths!

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation! With your support, my third graders are SO engaged in reading.

We recently began a unit in reading mysteries, a genre that was unfamiliar to many of my students. After reading an A to Z Mysteries book as a class read aloud, they were hooked! They begged to read more, and unfortunately, my collection of mystery books was sparse at best.

Thanks to you, my students now have a range of different mystery books to devour! A to Z Mysteries are a favorite, with Third Grade Detectives close behind. They now have a number of books to read, compare, and share thinking about with their classmates.

We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your support of our love of reading! Thank you again for your generosity and for supporting our public schools!”

  • Family Fun: Taking Learning Off-Screen

    Funded Dec 30, 2020

"This is for ME?!" That's what many of my students said when they opened their bags at supply pick-up and saw the games you so generously donated. The smiles on their faces could light up a room!

The card and dice games you donated have quickly become family favorites for many of my students. Very few students had heard of the games they received, and students excitedly came back to our virtual class a few days later explaining how they loved Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza, or how they played Harry Potter Uno with their Harry Potter-loving older siblings. These games promote deeper thinking, problem solving, and family interactions.

Thank you from each and every one of my third grade students for these amazing games!”

  • Reading With Roz: The Wild Robot Novel Study

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Thank you SO much for making this project a reality! My students absolutely LOVED getting the chance to read The Wild Robot. So many interesting issues to come light in this book, and the conversations my eight and nine year olds get to have because of this book is so exciting as a teacher and someone who loves to read!

When students have their very own copies of books, it makes reading even more special. Your donation of copies to each of my remote learners allowed students to not only join in our reading together, but also to share this beloved title with family for years to come.

Thank you again from all of us!”

  • Gobbling Up Graphic Novels!

    Funded Dec 21, 2020

My students are crazy for graphic novels, and your donation has helped this love of this genre grow!

Several of my third graders have well-loved copies of Captain Underpants and Dog Man in their homes. With your help, they now have a range of new graphic novel series to explore. Kung Pow Chicken, Big Nate, Comics Squad, and Caveboy Dave are just a few of the new graphic novel series my students have in their homes thanks to you. They can laugh out loud with the Lunch Lady series, sympathize with Raina Telgemeier, and learn empathy from El Deafo.

Thank you for donating these amazing graphic novels to nurture a love of reading and expand my students' exposure to fantastic texts!”

  • Home Libraries That Make You LOL

    Funded Dec 17, 2020

After our most recent supply pickup, my students came to our Google Meet ready to talk about ALL their new books they received, thanks to your generosity!

My third graders LOVE books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants. One of my biggest goals as a teacher is to encourage a love of reading, which is where your kindness comes in. With your support, each student took home books about Wedgie and Gizmo, Franny K. Stein, and Captain Awesome, among others. I was able to match books to students based on their interests and strengths as readers, and each student now has exposure to multiple new series.

Thank you, donors, for all you do to support reading and public education!”
