My scholars are ready to engage in an in-depth academic study of the monomyth genre, the monomyth's continuity over cultures and time, the universal human struggle to overcome flaws, and the influence of the monomyth on contemporary stories. This unit of study will push scholars to analyze and describe in an explanatory essay how Ramayana: Divine Loophole illustrates expectations of the monomyth as well as how it diverges from those expectations. Scholars will engage in a Socratic Seminar in which they analyze the big ideas developed in Ramayana: Divine Loophole, especially ones conveyed by character responses to moral dilemmas. Finally, Ramayana: Divine Loophole will be used by scholars to reference as an example for a hero's journey as they plan and create an original monomyth. I have eager scholars and rigorous, engaging instruction prepared to begin this literary unit of study; all that is missing is the books! My scholars are excited and ready to begin studying the Ramayana: Divine Loophole as the first text in our unit. The gorgeous illustrations and well-written text will be an excellent resource for scholars to read, analyze, and discuss!
