  • Early Robots for Early Learners: the Bee-Bot

    Funded Aug 27, 2018

Thank you for your donation to our Bee Bots! The children truly enjoy them. Watching them working to get the Bee Bots to go in the direction that they want them to go has been amazing to watch. They are learning coding skills without even knowing it. The children are working on counting and directional words words also along with patterns.

Thank you again for supporting the learning in our preschool. We will continue to use the items from the grant to extend the learning of the children.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Angie

  • Movement in Preschool

    Funded Oct 2, 2018

Thank you for your donation towards our Movement in Preschool grant! The items in this grant have allowed the preschool children the opportunity for extra movement in the classroom when needed. The children are aware of where the items are located and during their "worktime" they are able to access the materials they are interested in using.

We have also used the material to create obstacle courses in the classroom on days that ALL of the children need a little extra movement. We have utilized the balance boards for children who are struggling to sit during large group time. They have enjoyed the change from just sitting on the carpet. The cube chairs have been great to give some children a boundary when sitting on the carpet.

When the items arrived the children were very excited and interested to see what was in the boxes. We waited until all the items arrived to help build excitement.

We will continue to find fun ways to use the materials to allow the children extra movement as needed in the classroom.”

  • STEM: Lego Building in the Classroom

    Funded Apr 12, 2018

Thank you for your donation to our Lego table! The table is used daily in the preschool classroom. The children use it to create their own creations as well as using it to sort and match the Legos. The table is also a great transition piece for new children. Everyone loves legos!

The children were very excited when the boxes arrived especially when we didn't open them until we had ALL of the materials. The students enjoyed the variety of the people and emotion legos.

Currently we are working on building our social/emotional curriculum and the emotion duplos will be a great resource. Thank you again for your contribution to our classroom. The students and I appreciate it!”

  • Whiteboard Interaction for Preschoolers

    Funded Dec 6, 2017

Thank you for donating to our project! The children love having the opportunity to be in control of their learning. Prior to having the Ipeevo the children would think they were "pushing the button" for the answer but really the teacher was. Now the students are able to push it on their own by using the Ipeevo. The children are also able to practice their names using a different type of media not just a marker or pencil. The children are also able to stand an write so it is at a different angle and see a different view than writing on paper.

This has allowed the children a different type of technology that they would not normally have the opportunity to use.”

  • Bringing Learning Alive in the Preschool Classroom with STEM

    Funded Jan 28, 2016

    Dear Donors;

Thank you for your donation to our Bringing Learning Alive in the Preschool Classroom with STEM! When the new materials arrived, we put them out for the children to explore over a couple days. We did not give many directions about the materials. We wanted to see what the children would do with the materials.

The initial reaction of the children was excitement and curiosity. The children wanted to know what everything was and if they could use it! Many of the children spent as much time with the roller coaster as they possibly could. That continues to be a favorite of many of the children. The magnet was also a favorite of the children. They continue to enjoy the materials each and every time they are available for the children to use.

As we finish the school year the children continued to enjoy the different materials purchased and continue to make new vehicles, buildings, and bridges. The material will be incorporated into different areas of the classroom next school year for new children to explore and continue to learn through hands on manipulation of materials.

Thank you again for your support of our preschool classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Angie

  • A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words....Cameras in Preschool!

    Funded Sep 1, 2014

The cameras have been a positive addition to our classroom. The children have enjoyed using the cameras to take pictures throughout the classroom and school activities. The cameras have gone outside, to the gym, and to science. Every child has taken their turn to use the cameras. The cameras stay on my desk and the children will get the cameras when they see something they want to take pictures of. Many of the children have learned how to turn the cameras on by themselves and if not they will ask friends or teachers to help. The cameras have facilitated communication among the children in a variety of ways. The children have also learned to ask their friends if they can take their pictures instead of just taking a picture. In the beginning many of the children did not like having their pictures taken so we worked on asking them if they were okay having their picture taken.

With the cameras, the children are looking at their work and taking pride in it. Often when they create a block structure, pattern in table toys, drawing on the dry erase board, etc. they will get the cameras or have a friend take pictures of their work.

We have talked about how to use the cameras and to look into the screen to focus on what they are taking pictures of. In the beginning when I would have to delete many of the pictures when I pulled off the pictures but as time has gone on there are less pictures that I am deleting and more pictures that I can tell what they are.”

  • IPad Mini for Preschool Classroom

    Funded Aug 26, 2014

From the day the Ipad arrived learning has been seen in so many ways among the children in my preschool class! The Ipad has encouraged learning in a fun way along with cooperation skills plus patience among the children. The children have learned how to work together to share the Ipad and found ways to use the Ipad together as a small group. The children have found ways to use the different apps that I didn't know were possible. They found how to record different people talking and add to a picture they have taken. This has been one of their favorite apps. The children are also using a couple different apps to work on handwriting in a nontraditional way.

The Ipad has also helped with communication between school and parents. We use the Ipad to take pictures of learning especially during small group time. The pictures are then either uploaded to the classroom Facebook page or emailed to parents. Unfortunately, I have not found the "perfect" app to use for documentation of the children learning but do use the Ipad to take notes and pictures while observing the children.

The Ipad has been a great addition to the classroom and is used on a daily basis with many of the children. The children are also learning about time management because often a visual timer is set to limit the amount of time each child uses the Ipad otherwise a few children would be on the Ipad all through worktime.

Thank you for your donation toward the Ipad for our classroom. The children have and will continue to love the Ipad and the opportunities they are exposed to while using.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Angie
