  • Growing Library Leads to Growing Minds

    Funded Nov 10, 2017

These books have made a tremendous impact in our classroom. The students now have high-interest books at their level--it has been great to watch each and everyone of them get excited about reading.

These books have helped our students with their reading in multiple ways-- we have learned new sight words and we have gone on many different and exciting picture walks. The students have learned about characters, setting and plot and we have also learned about the difference between fiction and non fiction, all with books at our appropriate reading levels!

Reading is the best time of our day! During reading, the students take their book baggies to their most comfortable reading spot and are able to jump into their books and stories. They can learn about what interests them most all while working on their reading skills. In addition to the books that we already had in our book baggies, the students now all have 2-3 more books that they can change once a week.

These books have made a large impact in our classroom and we are so grateful for all of you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Angelique

  • Seeing the World Through the Camera Lens

    Funded Jan 10, 2017

Thank you so much for funding our classroom's project. Using the new cameras has been a great experience for my students. Over the last couple of weeks we have been exploring the cameras and learning all about their history. We have been on scavenger hunts around our school looking for certain objects to take pictures of--and we have had a blast!

Having the cameras has been super exciting for my students because they get to immediately see what they took a picture of and then they can decide what to do with that picture. In the next couple of weeks we will be taking more pictures and ultimately we will chose to either make a school scrapbook, postcards or a year book.

Using DonorChoose has been an incredible experience and my students and I are so grateful to have had this opportunity.

    Thank you a million!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Angelique

My class is made complete with 12 wonderful, wiggly and hard-working kindergarten and first graders who always come to school with their best foot forward. Our school is located in a diverse and urban community, allowing students to be exposed to a variety of backgrounds, beliefs and experiences. Our daily routine consist of exploring, questioning and testing our interests. As an educator, I ensure that I provide hands-on and interactive activities that allow my students to stay focused and interested in their learning. My classroom is a safe space where different ideas are welcomed and making mistakes is encouraged--the effort is what counts. We strive to create a love for learning in our students and can not wait to see where this year takes us!
