Soft and Squishy Seating
Funded Jan 15, 2022My students were ecstatic to see their new seating options. I had them set out next to the original 2 options and they immediately went to pick one and begin using them right away. They are eager to use them every day. It has given them opportunities to learn about sharing with each other and about the responsibilities of taking care of such a wonderful gift.
Thank you so much for this blessing for my students. It has brought them so much joy and has helped many students stay focused on their work. You are amazing!”

Funded Oct 15, 2021The students are using the new folders to help them learn to organize their learning materials. For example, the green folders are for Spanish Literacy, the blue folders are for English Literacy, and the red folders are for Math. This supports their organizational skills and the efficiency of learning time, as students know where their materials are at and where to put them, independently.
The markers are used by me to support Project GLAD learning strategies by using different colors to differentiate between different words, categories, or parts of a diagram.
Thank you so much for your support.”

Funded Apr 1, 2021The solar lights have helped students illuminate their tables during group work, provide light when independent reading on the carpet, and lighting the classroom during a power outage, which allowed us to keep learning. Overall, they give off a calming light to the whole classroom.
The students are so excited to use them each time and really enjoy the versatility of the light's functions.
When the students first saw them, they were ecstatic and couldn't wait to try them on. Now they use them all of the time. Thank you so much.”

Funded Jan 28, 2021Thank you for supporting my students. They were elated to get the gloves, scarves, and hats. The smiles on their faces were full of joy. My partner teacher and I were able to combine them with another Donors Choose project, so the students were able to receive an entire bag of goodies. They were so appreciative, coming to school the next day talking about all of the stuff they received! These last few days have been very cold, especially in the morning. Having these items kept students warm as they returned to in-person learning. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you for your generosity in providing writing tools for our students. My teaching partner and I have noticed more students being ready and excited about learning since they have the learning tools they need for the day.
Pencils, erasers, and a sharpener may seem like something students would just have ready, but many families are struggling to provide other needs, so getting help with these school supplies was a blessing to many of our families.
The students are enjoying the stylus pens too and using them to improve their writing.”

Funded Oct 16, 2020Having the 2nd screen has allowed me to focus more on my students, observe their engagement, and support them when needed. Being able to see all of my students on another screen, while having what I'm sharing to teach them on a different screen makes the focus more on learning and less on technology delays.
It has also helped me be more engaged and actively help during meetings with my team and other staff, which directly supports students learning.
Prior to having the screen, I had a few students upset because I didn't see them raise their hands. I told them I was getting the 2nd screen to help with this. Since, receiving it, these students are no longer showing a concern with being missed or unseen in class.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve my students with efficiency and supporting their learning needs.”

Funded Feb 13, 2020Thank you for your support. Having different lighting options, created an environment where students could calmly, focus on their learning. It gave them choice in where they wanted to sit and how much light they needed.
The most exciting part of the lighting was when putting them together and setting them up became a teachable moment and a group project in designing how and where we were going to put them.
The impact was so much, my room attracted other students and teachers to my room when they needed calming environment to help reset them for learning.”

Bringing Learning Supplies to Students During Distance Learning
Funded May 7, 2020The supplies were used for students to engage in distance learning. We saw an increase in engagement after the students received their supplies. We heard from families about how they are still using them now that it's Summer. While on our Zoom meetings, we had students bring their whiteboards and markers to engage in the activities we planned. One student who really was challenged with distance learning, was more excited than he had been since school was canceled. He was working so hard and was so eager to share his work with my partner teacher and I and his fellow students.
Receiving these materials gave us an opportunity to deliver them to their homes, connect with their families, and see them after not seeing them for several weeks. They were so excited to get the materials, but also were super excited to see the two of us.
The supplies will continue to be useful for students learning as they use them over the summer and then as we continue with some level of distance learning this next school year. Thank you so much!”

Funded Jan 1, 2019My students are using the high quality headphones to help them access and focus on their Online i-Ready reading and math lessons and goals. One of my students was unable to use headphones prior to receiving these ones as his family was unable to afford some and there were not enough working headphones supplied by the school. He struggled to stay focus and complete lessons. Since having these headphones, he has successfully completed several lessons each week and is excited to show me his progress.
When the students first saw the headphones, they were excited to try them on. "Wow! These are so nice! Can we start using them today?"
We work on i-Ready 30-60 minutes each week. I have seen an increase in lessons completed and of those lessons, lessons mastered. What is especially exiting is these new skills are showing in other academic areas too! In addition, students have learned skills about taking care of the headphones and why it important to do so. They have taken ownership in being responsible and helping each other do the same.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support of my student!”

Funded Dec 24, 2018My students and I are using the beanbag chairs, pillows, whisper phones and noise canceling headphones to help us feel more comfortable and flexible in our learning. Students choose to use them as needed to help them be successful with meeting their learning goals. For example, a student was struggling to stay focused in their seat. When they chose to get a pair of noise canceling headphones and sit in one of the beanbag chairs, they were able to calm, focus and successfully meet their learning goals.
When they first saw the materials, students were extremely excited and wanted immediately begin using them. "Wow! Our flexible seating is here! Can we start using them today?"
We currently are working on our Human Body unit, which involves health, writing and reading. Students will use the flexible seating during independent or group work as they read and write about the different systems of their body.
I have witness student engagement increasing since we have had these materials. Thank you so much for your generosity and the impact it has had and is having on my student's engagement and success.”
