  • Flexible Seating for Students With Emotional Disorders

    Funded Jul 31, 2019

Thank you so much for the Flexible seating, this has made for a wonderful option for the students in my classroom. Since these seats were made of material that could be easily sanitized my students were able to utilize the flexible seating in the classroom.

Flexible seating was exceptionally useful this year during COVID-19 when so many other incentives were not able to be tangibly given to students. This gave them a space to relax while continuing to work and learn.

This also provided a space for students who were overwhelmed during COVID-19. They were able to sit in the flexible seating and relax and de-stress from the tension of the pandemic.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Warman

Students also completed writing projects based on writing prompts that dealt with social situations that the main character encountered. This allowed the students have another perspective.”

  • Classroom Library to Increase Reading Fluency and Comprehension

    Funded Aug 13, 2020

This allowed my students to have a wide variety of genres and grade appropriate reading books to my classroom. This helped expand their reading. The really enjoyed the book Code Orange because they could relate the virus in the book to their experience with the pandemic this year. Students were able to learn how to expand on explicit and implicit reading comprehension questions. This also allowed them to carry their reading over to written expression by learning how to cite text from their readings.

Student's were able to check out books as they completed books and where given assignments to assess their knowledge on the content that they read.”

  • Life's Basic Essentials for Students in Need

    Funded Nov 9, 2017

Words cannot express the gratitude for the funding of this project. We have expanded our clothing closet her at school. In addition it is so nice to be able to supply them with the basic needs of soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant in order for them to have the basic essentials necessary for good hygiene. The way we have set this up is so discrete but, they know where to go to quire assistance. This would not be possible without your help and generosity. Many students will ask where the supplies came from and we tell them for people we do not even know and they found that so caring when they are so down on their luck.”

My students are 9-12 grade special education students with mild to moderate cognitive delays or emotional disturbances. We are a community of 18,000 who has been financial stressed due to closing of major factories and businesses in the last 15 years. Because of this our school is over 40 percent free and reduced lunch, which means our students often do not have the means to obtain the necessary supplies to be successful in school.
