  • Happy Birthday to You

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Wow! Thank you so much for your support and your generosity. Birthdays are a big deal in a child's life and, so often, I have students who don't have the luxury of feeling special on their big day. I can't wait to see the smiles on my students' faces when they receive their birthday gift bags. Bless you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Golden

  • Magnificent Me

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

You are amazing! Thank you all so much for your support in funding my latest DonorsChoose project. I am so excited to be able to add these wonderful stories to my classroom library and share them with my students. They will, undoubtedly, lead to great classroom discussions and help provide a safe space for my littles to express themselves. Bless you all for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Golden

  • Social and Emotional Support Through Stories

    Funded Jun 28, 2020

Thank you so much for your contributions to my classroom library. Storytime is one of our favorite times of the day and, through stories, we are able to find our voices to express our feelings. Children feel valued and seen when they can make connections to others. They are often frustrated when they feel misunderstood or when they are unable to effectively communicate how they are feeling. Our new stories have helped to support this important stage in the emotional well-being of my students. Thank you for supporting this very important part of my students' development.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Golden

  • Vital for Virtual

    Funded Aug 4, 2020

Thank you so very much for funding my project! Nothing is more important to me than having the proper tools and materials to reach all learners. The materials in this project will help to ensure equitable, engaging instruction as my students learn from home until it is safe for us to return to school. I appreciate your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Golden

  • Acceptance, Diversity, and Self-Love

    Funded Jul 6, 2020

Thank you so very much for your support and for funding this classroom project! The current state of race relations in our country can be difficult for young children to understand and it compels us to provide as many positive examples as possible to promote self-love and acceptance. I love reading to my students and these amazing stories will be such an important tool in helping to build a classroom where all learners feel accepted and valued. Thank you, again, for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Golden

The abrupt end to in-person learning was beyond anything that we could have envisioned. One day, students were in class. The next, they were going home for a two-week closure that extended to three months! In the blink of an eye, daily hugs, smiles, instruction, and peer interactions were taken away, replaced by messages and Zoom calls and assignments posted to Google Classroom. This was traumatizing for many students. As we begin to consider the impact of school closure on our students, we cannot ignore the need for social emotional support. Students are going to need help navigating through the layers of emotions that they have experienced since school closed in March. The books and stories on this list will help to foster a "safe place" for my students to acknowledge their feelings. Please help me prepare an environment that has the necessary resources to support my learners and equip them with coping skills to make them feel safe, secure, and happy, for it is only then that true learning can take place.
