Students today are very active in the classroom. Traditional desk/chair situations don’t keep the students engaged like they once did. There has been a lot of research done in regards to flexible seating. When their bodies are comfortable, they’re more willing to focus. So many of my students need to sit on the floor or stand at their desk because they just can’t focus on a hard chair that is 30 years old with cracks that pinch their fingers and backs of their legs. My goal is to incorporate seating choice in the classroom to have every student feel comfortable while they learn! With a variety of options, even my most challenging children will be happier and more willing to try during the day. I have tried building some of my own flexible seating using milk crates and cushions, but unfortunately they didn’t last. The requested balance ball chairs, wobble cushions, lap desks, and chair bands will be great. Thank you for helping!
