I am positive that adding diverse books in our cozy, reading corner will captivate the students attention. Seeing themselves in these books can build their self esteem and love of books. When a student is read to daily your are helping brain development, social/emotional and communication skills develop. If we move to distance learning I can read these books for our online story time. This can also provide families a starting place to have brave conversation with their student at home, which is the beginning of empathy skills for our young learners.
