In our classroom students are taught to not only be excellent scholars, but more importantly caring people. Students are encouraged to see themselves as mathematicians, scientists, artists, authors, and inventors. In our first grade class, we explore the world through books, photos, magazines and virtual field trips. Everyday students are engaged in reading, writing , exploring and problem solving. Students need composition books to take leaning even further. Students are motivated to write about what they learned and make illustrations to show what the world looks like to them. Our classroom needs math and English games to help foster peer relationship along with academics. When games are available, students not only get to interact with friends, but also have a chance to learn new skills together.
