  • Cougars Need Water!

    Funded Nov 19, 2022

We are so thankful for your donations to this project. Sorry for the delay in sending the pictures and impact statement. Our kitchen is still under construction and we are opening very slowly. The students are excited everyday when we unpack and build the items from our donations, such as the bread boxes and the chip carts. They also love the idea that they can use the water tank to make themselves hot coca and oatmeal without having to boil water. They also love showing off all of our treats and items for sale to our customers. They are very proud of their growing business. I can not wait for them to choose other items for their next project to expand their culinary class/ business.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. O'Keefe

  • Interactive Learning Through Technology

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

I just want to start off again by thanking you all for your generosity. Being able to have access at the fingertips for my students have opened up a world of possibilities for them while in school.

During this recent activity depicted in the pictures, my students were researching different healthy lifestyles, for our career/transition class. With the information they gathered from the internet they will be able to teacher their classmates about making good choices in areas of healthy eating, dealing with stress and anxiety, even on heart disease.

This is just one of the many amazing topics they will be using the chrome books for.”

  • Cooking With Cougars

    Funded Dec 1, 2018

We can not thank you all enough for your generosity. The students have been hard at work making wonderful lunches for the staff members of our building. The use of the tables have helped to create an atmosphere that simulates a real professional cooking environment. An environment that we hope many of our students will have a chance to work in upon completion of this program.

The students were so happy when they opened them, and began to put them together, they spoke about all of the wonderful things they have planned to make using our new prep stations.

Thank you so much for helping to make a difference in the lives of these amazing students.”

  • Opening up the World Wide Web!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you all so much for your generosity. Having a computer in our classroom will allow my students to instantly explore the world in ways we couldn't before. Projects will be made easier with the use of a laptop. My students love to learn, explore and read. However being in a high school with a library suited for that age level, it does not suit my wonderful students who as much as they want to learn and read from those books to help create their projects and enhance their learning, they are too difficult for them. With this hands on ready to use laptop they can easily explore the web for reading level appropriate research materials that will allow them to feel successful in their learning process. Donors like all of you make my job as a teacher easier, your gifts make it easier for me to reach my students in ways I never thought imaginable. For that reason I can not thank you enough.”

  • Recreating History

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

I can not thank you all enough for the amazing generosity you have shown my students by funding this project. My students can not wait to show you and the rest of the world their creativity and knowledge through theater. This project will open up a side of history they could have only dreamt of. History will come alive in my classroom. As more teachers see the beauty of acting and creativity that can come out of this project the more I can see if being used through other classrooms as well. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing my students a chance to shine.”

  • Crafting the Beauty of the World

    Funded Sep 16, 2016

I can not thank all of you enough for your generous gift. My students have been working so hard and are so thrilled to be able to create some amazing projects with our new machine. They have created different holiday items for Thanksgiving, such as banners, cards and window decorations. They went full force with the Christmas season, designing cards, ornaments, signs for wooden pieces and even window clings. They are already talking about what they can do for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day. I am so amazed at what they have come up with. They love watching their designs come to life and so do I.”

  • Going Green In the Classroom

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

    Dear Donors,

I can not thank you enough for your support. The purchasing of the the white boards and materials has made it much easier for my students. We have used them in class in so many different ways. in order to review in my class we like to play games. One of their favorite games is trivia. They enjoying writing their answers on the boards to gain points for themselves and their teams. It is also a quick way to check for understanding of materials for my students. I currently have one student who is a selective Mute. She does not talk in class, so asking her to answer a question was nearly impossible without her writing it down. having the white boards allows her to do just that without feeling weird or different.

Having the whiteboards in the classroom leads to endless possibilities for me students and for myself. it has made the education process more hands one and interactive for my kinetic, and visual learners. Again we can not thank you enough”

  • Printing the World

    Funded Dec 2, 2015

    Dear Donors,

I can not thank you enough for your support. The purchasing of the printer has made it much easier for my students, who come from low economic families, create projects and see them completed. For many of the projects that we complete in class require some type of picture or artistic component. This at times is their favorite part of the project, however most of the can not draw so having a printer for them to grab the picture at their fingertips makes a world of difference.

We have used the printer to create cards for work study, printed out mazes from Harry Potter to use on our cereal box project and even printed out projects they wrote about the Presidents.

Having a printer in the classroom leads to endless possibilities for me students and for myself. Again we can not thank you enough.”

My Students are apart if the NYSAA program known as ACES. These amazing students are a low function population amongst the larger special education population. Many of my students, though in High School cannot read beyond a 1st grade level. As a Social Studies and Reading teacher, it is my job to bring them a traditional high school curriculum in a way that they can understand. It is a challenge to keep them interested in a topic for long periods of time, so many of our topics are extended over many weeks. They are apart of a work study program as well. They gain both life skills and academics in one place. This helps them to gain a better sense of life after they leave our program. They have the opportunity to stay in this program until they are 21, meaning many of my students will be with me for 8 years. This also causes a challenge because granted many of them do not retain info for that long, I must recreate the curriculum each year.
