  • Testing Snacks

    Funded Mar 28, 2024

Working in a Title I school can be challenging at times. Many students come to school hungry and want snacks throughout the day. With your generous donations, I was able to provide snacks for my students as incentives to stay on task and complete work. This is especially crucial on testing days. Seniors often take many tests throughout the year to meet graduation requirements, and the days can be quite long. I made care packages for each student to receive on testing day to give them an extra push to excel. The students were gracious and excited about the care packages that I was able to put together for them to get them to the finish line.

I believe that by giving the students these care packages the majority of them passed the necessary tests to graduate high school with a diploma!

Thank you again for assisting my Title I students, who struggle with many issues outside of school and many bring those issues into the classroom. I am appreciative.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Vich

  • Interactive Binders

    Funded Nov 20, 2023

The students are using the resources as an interactive binder. We spent an entire class period setting up the binder by placing and labeling tabs. All of the student's work is placed in this binder. The binder will be turned in for grading and house all the school year's work. This tool is used to teach the students to be responsible and organized with their schoolwork, leading to responsibility and organization in other aspects of their lives.

The majority of my students live in poverty and getting school supplies is a struggle for most of them. My students were very grateful for the binders. It was an expense that they didn't need to burden their parent or guardian with.

    Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Vich

  • Freedom to Print

    Funded Nov 20, 2023

Thank you for the generous donation of the printer, ink, and copy paper. Several years ago the district removed classroom printers in our Title I classes. This put a strain on students to print the necessary documents to apply for colleges, turn in assignments, or additional copies needed in the classroom because a student lost it.

The students were very excited to be able to send work to the printer or have me print our recommendation letters for their college applications. As Title I students prepare for life after high school, it was important for me to assist in their journey, however I could. Being able to print documents and letters or assignments for the students has taken off additional stress and burden of them.

So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you!”

  • Mental Health Breaks

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for the generous donations in order to fund this project. My students get tired of day-to-day schoolwork and the increased amount of testing. Your donations allowed me to purchase activities that the students can take small breaks from their classwork and be kids. I have a puzzle corner and the students are allowed to take a break and work on the puzzle. The timers are for the students to use as a reminder of the limited time they have to take a break.

My students are learning that puzzles are fun and challenging and they are using this as a way to break up the class work and refocus on the assignment.

Without your generous donations, I would not have been able to provide this opportunity for my students.

    THANK YOU!”

  • Text Marking is Fundamental

    Funded Jul 28, 2021

Thank you for the generous to donations to fully fund this project. I teach intensive reading and marking the text is key to comprehending the text. The color pencils allow each of my classes their own box to use during these lessons. The majority of my students are listed at or below poverty, so they are not able to provide their own school supplies. With kind people like you, my students do not need to worry about bringing in utensils to help with their education.

The colored pencils are used for text marking as well as creating one pagers, which are summaries of the text that was read.

Again, thank you for your generous donations. I am grateful.”

  • Snacks for Hungry Students

    Funded Aug 17, 2022

Thank you for the kind donations. Many of my students arrive to school either too late for breakfast or they leave their house too early to catch the bus and they don't have time for breakfast. Many of my students care for younger siblings while their single parent is at work.

I truly appreciate the generosity to allow me the ability to provide a small snack for the students when they are in need. I was also able to use the snacks as an incentive to complete work.

Without your donation, I would not have been able to provide snacks for my 129 students that I teach on a daily basis. THANK YOU!”

  • For the Love of Reading

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for the gift of Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas. My students fell in love with reading when I introduced The Hate U give by Angie Thomas. Now the students get to read this book and understand the back story of Maverick and Garden Heights. I feel that many students enjoy these books because they can relate to the situations that take place in the books. When students can relate to the text, they are more engaged. THANK YOU! This type of book gets my students excited about reading.

This year, reading looks very different in my room then last year. This year I only have two classes that are face-to-face. I fear for the students having to share materials. I project the pages of the book onto the Smart Board and we read aloud. We have group discussions and the students talk in partners (socially distant). The students that I teach digitally, I use audio books that the students listen to and we discuss in a group chat or live.”

  • Safe Social Distancing

    Funded Oct 29, 2020

Thank you for donating to my project in order to keep my students more safe during the pandemic. The privacy screens are used in class at my computer station to allow more distance and privacy between the students. The computer station is used daily in the classroom and the bright paneled screen brings additional color and happiness into the classroom.

The students were quite excited to see the new addition to the classroom and asked where I got them from. I feel as though the students really appreciate the donation that was made to our classroom. Even when the world becomes a safer place and the pandemic fades, the screens will still be used at the computer station or can be moved to the desks for testing.

Thank you again for the kind donation!”

  • This is Your Time by Ruby Bridges

    Funded Dec 23, 2020

We are reading This is Your Time by Ruby Bridges, a book about social injustice and her life. The students are really enjoying the book because they read The Hate U Give (THUG) by Angie Thomas, On the Come Up by Angie Thomas, and Dear Martin by Nic Stone. I believe that many of the students can relate to the book. This type of book gets my students excited about reading.

This year, reading looks very different in my room then last year. This year I only have two classes that are face-to-face. I fear for the students having to share materials. I teach 10th grade Intensive Reading in a Title I school, this means that the majority of the school is at or below poverty. My students attend a suburban school with a high population of students with disabilities, including a classroom unit reserved for children with severe disabilities. These students mainly come from single parent households and no parental support. I want to improve my classroom in anyway shape or form to get these students reading and writing on grade level, which the majority of the students are behind. To create a better environment in the classroom, I will need materials for the students as well as myself to improve efficiency and manage my time better. Thank you for looking and/or donating to a great classroom.
