It's been an amazing experience this school year with a group of 6th graders who I also taught as 5th graders last year. We have been able to focus on learning since we already know each other well. I teach three sections of Literacy to English as a Second Language students at a Title 1 school in Arlington, Texas. A year ago, not all of my students saw themselves as readers, but now they do! I am constantly looking for ways to keep my students engaged with Literacy in the classroom. This past year my students have become avid readers, and I want to continue fostering their love for reading by providing lots of opportunities to engage with texts.
