Help Us Learn Remote from Home
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you for your help in allowing me to obtain the items to enhance online virtual learning. Teaching remote from my home, to my students homes has been a learning experience. It has definitely proved to be challenging. The items that I received from Donor's Choose have enabled me to rise to the challenges of virtual learning.
The document camera has helped, especially when it comes to teaching math. I can show the students concrete examples of the math problems. It has also given me the ability to project my edition of the math workbook online, so my students can easily follow along with the instruction. The Selore attachment for the MacBook allows me to connect devices that help the students become immersed in the lessons.
My students were thrilled with the model magic and were excited the day that I brought it down to the school so they could pick it up. We created pumpkin sculptures in the style of Kusama. The model magic is also being used for science projects as well as additional art projects.
Once again, I am truly grateful for your help. My students are getting a quality educational experience that would not have been possible without these items.”

Ms. Horowitz

Funded Nov 21, 2017When the cart arrived I was beyond thrilled. I took it upstairs and immediately set to work assembling the cart. Once completed, my students were incredibly excited to see and use the new art cart. The first day that I brought it to each classroom, kids actually said "wow", "that is awesome". They want to take turns wheeling the cart to the next class. Other teachers in the school were also quite impressed with the cart.
The cart has been extremely beneficial to my art program. The whiteboard part allows me to write the goals and lesson instructions for the day. Students also go up to draw images and concepts that are covered during the lesson. The bins in the cart are organized in such a way that the kids can get the materials that are needed for the art projects they are working on. It allows them greater freedom to be independent when selecting their supplies.
The students and I will continue using this cart as an integral part of the art program. We will be adding STEAM/STEM components to the cart, that will facilitate artistic exploration and discovery.
My kindergarten students have been making good use of the large crayons. They are developing their fine motor skills and these crayons are perfect for their hands and fingers. I have seen improvement in their ability to hold a crayon with proper grip.
Thank you once again for all your help and support. I am truly grateful.”

Amazing Sculpture
Funded Sep 11, 2016Thank you so much for helping to fund the art sculpture program at my school. It is always a pleasure to know that so many people want to help students achieve success in the arts.
My students are always excited to use Model Magic . They were especially thrilled to use the primary color model magic. The primary colors enable the children to blend colors and experiment with the materials and create a wide variety of color schemes. Watching the expressions of joy as they created new colors was quite inspiring.
The students are using the materials to create sculptures. They are encouraged to explore and expand their artistic abilities through sculpture. Learning about the art of Henry Moore, led some of them to create sculpture using negative and positive space, which helped to increase their understanding of visual art.
We plan to learn about other sculpture artists who have worked with a unique combination of materials to create art.”

Awesome Artists and Their Art
Funded Sep 29, 2014Art is such an important part of childhood education. When students are exposed to art, they are able to grow creatively, academically and socially. It is extremely rewarding to watch children get excited about creating art.
My students were so excited when the materials arrived. They truly enjoy using the items. The fifth grade artists created portraits using glitter crayons, gold Sharpies and pastels. The first grade artists are learning how to use the Playcolor paint sticks. Third graders have been creating pop art landscapes using the large paper and crayons. The Crayola color sticks are a favorite material amongst all the grades.
Once again, thank you for your generosity. These supplies have enhanced the art program at my school. They have enabled me to expose my students to a wide variety of art medium. You have given my students the best gift, the gift of art.”

Art, Art, Art
Funded Nov 28, 2013Art is such an important part of the education process. Children need the opportunity to experiment and learn to think outside the box. Art enables children to develop their creative thought process. My students and I appreciate the materials that you helped us to obtain for the art program at our school.
It was very exciting to receive the art materials from Donors Choose. The kids really enjoy using the rubbing plates. It is rewarding to see their reactions when creating rubbings. They also have had the chance to create sculpture from the pipe cleaners. They have realized that art can take many forms and they have also learned to experiment with ideas for art projects.
I am very grateful for your generosity. As donors, you have helped to enhance the art program at my school. Thank you for helping my students realize their creative art potential.”

Funded Dec 19, 2013Thank you for helping my students obtain these amazing Playcolor paint sticks. The students absolutely love using them. The work that they have been creating is bright, bold, colorful and beautiful.
When I introduced the paint sticks to the students, they could not believe that the tubes were tempera paint in a stick. They could not wait to try them. It was so gratifying to watch their excitement as they experimented with the materials.
The paint sticks are being used with grades 2 through 5. To date, the fourth grade has created artwork in the style of Robert Indiana and Jasper Johns. The third grade students painted pop art landscapes that look like they belong in a Peter Max exhibit. The fifth grade students worked on Jim Dine style hearts. The second grade used the materials to create landscapes using a pointillism style technique.
The best thing about the paint sticks is that they have allowed my students to really feel like they are artists. I am watching their art confidence develop and grow. They take risks, they create, they succeed.”
