At times there are over 30 students in my classroom, while transitions (students/grade-levels in and out) numbered over 24 each day, in other words there is a lot of movement! Another challenge is that my classroom is the last one on the way to the common areas of the school, the cafeteria, the gym, and the Large Group Instruction area, which means half of the school’s classrooms, approximately 450 students walk past my room multiple times during the school day. Lastly, the school itself was designed and built in the 1970’s when co-operative learning was popular. This resulted in a 3 classroom “Pod”, where collapsible walls were installed to facilitate that style of instruction. So, my room has two walls that do not keep the amount of sound from the other two rooms in our pod out like standard “hard” walls would. By bettering the acoustics in the room, it will allow students to better hear their teacher, specialists, and their classmates not only by increasing the volume of the speaker, but more importantly the clarity of the words being spoken. Introducing the Juno System with Bluetooth, 3 Channel Expansion Module & 4 Student Mics can greatly increase my students’ engagement with the lesson, improving participation, confidence, comprehension, and most importantly, the fun of learning!!
