  • An Apple a Day Makes the Students Successful!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Having an updated computer to use for all of our digital resources has been such a blessing. The most exciting part about having a new computer is the speed in which we can get things projected and done in class. Gone are the days of endless updates and waiting for pages to load while the class is waiting to get started with the lesson.

During our most recent presentations in front of the class, it was nice to see the smiles on the students faces as they were able to orally present their projects with ease. We have also been able to share some amazing starter ideas from Canva for Education using this updated system.

There are no words to say how grateful we all are for your dedication to making our classroom even more prepared and successful than it already is. So thank you again for everything.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Technology for Teaching

    Funded Jun 17, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity in donating a new computer to our classroom. Not only have the students been able to project their produced work easily to our promethean board, but the speed in which it connects and creates material is so much faster than the chromebooks they have access to. Just this past week, we finally presented our Native American Region Projects that the students created to the board as the students gave their oral reports. It was awesome!

The most exciting thing that we are going to be getting into is editing videos using iMovie. This ability to so easily edit and produce videos using iMovie is going to be an amazing asset to our classroom community and application of the standards.

Thank you again for your support!”

  • Displaying Our Work!

    Funded Feb 28, 2024

Thank you so much for making such an incredible impact on our classroom with your donation. The students in my classroom are always working so hard on their projects and presentations and it is such a treat to be able to print them in color and display them.

One of the biggest impacts was a Mother's Day gift we created as a writing project. The ability to print the photos in color really upped the excitement and beauty of the gift. Even more, printing the students writing assignments and getting them up as soon as they are done, is instant gratification for all of the hard work that they put in to complete their assignments.”

  • Revamping Our Reading Space

    Funded Jan 29, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. I cannot begin to describe how nice it has been to have the chairs with the felt bottoms in class. It has made for a much quieter transition space and allows the students to maintain focus on their reading and assignments. The students are absolutely in love with the stools and the bean bag chair. During SEL time, we gather around the carpet, and being that I have such a large class this year, we didn't have enough room. These stools make it so each student can be seen, but can also be heard during this special time for connection in the morning.

What an amazing gift it is to display the books in the shelving unit so that when kids gather in our library, they feel welcome and comfortable to spend time reading and relaxing. None of this would have been possible without your help. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Never Too Much Teamwork

    Funded Dec 14, 2023

When the students first saw the materials coming into the classroom they were so excited and eager to use them all.

Recently we finished reading the novel Wonder as a class and are now in the phase of creating our projects that display our knowledge in a meaningful way. The Mr. Sketch marker box has been a great addition to the excitement around creating these projects. The students love smelling the markers and making their projects smell nice too. The colors make for very vibrant posters and projects.

The teamwork and collaboration seen during Soft Start Fridays is so inspirational to watch as they interact and connect through play using all of the games and resources given.”

  • Soft Starts for Academic Success

    Funded Sep 5, 2023

Soft starts in the classroom is a time and place for connection and collaboration. The teamwork that is displayed during this special time in the classroom is inspirational to watch. The students were so excited to see all of the new materials that they would be able to use during this time. The rubix cubes were a huge hit. Being that I have a couple students that competitively compete, it has been a real challenge and highlight of the morning.

The nice thing about the 9 cube organizational shelving is that there is now a permanent home for all of the items that we have to use. This makes it easier to clean up and easier to access all of the materials during soft starts.

Thank you so much for allowing our classroom the opportunity to make this special time in our class so much more organized and staffed with quizzical games.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Sprucing Up Our School!

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

As the Climate Champion at our school, campus beautification along with helping our environment are some of my major concerns. In an effort to make our fifth grade walkway an inviting place that fosters the growth of plants that are pleasing to the eye and drought tolerant is huge.

The students were so happy to receive the bags of succulent soil and succulents for our garden plot. Not only that, but having access to their own child friendly gardening tools and their own gloves to work in the garden, allowed them to take ownership of it and really feel comfortable getting into the soil.

One really amazing partnership with the students was seeing them put the garden fence together. They worked hard and used teamwork to create this inviting space. Thank you to all of you who have made it happen. Our next step is to use the paint to create a mural around the garden and we couldn't be more thrilled.”

  • Novel Studies for the Win!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

It is with sincere thanks and gratitude that I write this letter to you all. Because of your generous donations, our classroom novel studies were filled with excitement and ease. Among the Hidden is an amazing novel that draws students into the powerful world of shadow children and the impact kindness can have on just a single person. The two main characters who are not supposed to know about each other, become friends and allies in a fight of their lives for the shadow children. This suspenseful novel kept the students engaged and willing to do the work in analyzing this text.

The use of the vacuum for keeping the rug clean is an added bonus so that as the students get comfortable reading their novel on the carpet, they don't have to worry about trash debris getting in the way of their relaxation time with their book. When it was time to read the novel, the students would gather on the carpet if they wanted to, and this added surprise helped so much.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • Advocating For Wildlife

    Funded Feb 23, 2023

Thank you again for all of your support with this amazing project and resource for the students. The students were so excited to see all of the new and exciting materials we had been gifted to make our club a success throughout the school year.

The biggest hit are the colorful stools that the students are able to sit on when there is not enough room during club meetings. It is such a treat to see them rush to get a stool to sit on and how proud they feel using them.

The pencils and other items really helped to boost our club donations. By having these items, students were more inclined to donate to help the Endangered Animals we were working with. We were able to adopt 6 animals in the second semester, and your support of our club is the reason why. Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to our cause. Your help is appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Art Inspired

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

Thank you s much for your donations. With this project I was able to make our art time so much more enjoyable. Not only am I able to play music that sets the mood and the tone for the pieces that we are making, but I am able to introduce the students to genres of music that they may never hear outside of the classroom.

The Colors of the World crayon sets and the sharpie markers have enhanced our art projects in the classroom. Most recently we did an art project featuring Martin Luther King Jr. and the students were able to define their work and use the correct shades of color in their pieces.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

The students in my classroom this year are diverse, hard-working, and exceptional. They all try hard to keep up with the heavy demands of being in a mainstream classroom. They attend a school where most kids are on free lunch and classroom resources are low. They benefit from every little thing that is given to them, and do their best given the lives they all lead. Feeling good in their school environment helps to mold them into life-long learners.
