Book Truck on the Move!
Funded Aug 13, 2019A million thanks would be too few! We appreciate you considering our academic journey as a worthwhile cause! This new book truck will free up much needed space in our library and provide a focal point for new materials. It also will allow us to shelve books with speed! We are excited for our hot rod red book truck!”

Funded Jun 22, 2018Your generous donations are making huge differences in our ability to integrate technology in the library and music classroom! The very first thing students noticed when we removed the headphones from the boxes were the microphones attached. They were so excited to try them on and pretend! After some training on the usage of this specific type of headphone, we got to work using them with our self pacing computer typing program.
Not only have we used the headphones in the library, we have had the opportunity to try the microphones out in music class using Google Music Experiments. The students love using the microphones to record sounds and then manipulate the speed to create new and exciting sounds. We are excited to see in which ways we can use these headphones in the future.
The addition of these wonderful resources have also given me the opportunity to better train students on equipment care. The new headphones provide a fresh start to train and retrain my students. We are looking forward to all the amazing things to come from our new headphones!”

Funded Sep 25, 2016Now my students have a comfortable place to enjoy books anywhere in the library. These carpet squares have enabled us to read in every nook and cranny! We have found multiple uses for them in library and in MUSIC class as well. When we run out of space on the area rug, these squares enable us to move out and create more space where we can learn together.
My students' eyes lit up when they saw these new, colorful carpets! We love having nice things, and we could not wait to get a book in our hands and put our new carpet squares to use. They loved having the ability to go sit in a quiet space and read. The squares have also been a great tool to have in our music class (as I teach both). We can finally spread out when we read books or play music together. We hope to incorporate more cooperative learning opportunities with these resources.
Without the generous support of you, our donors, I truly do not know how I could have made this wish possible. Time and time again, I amazed by the care and compassion that people feel towards my students. Thank you so much for caring.”

Drumming Around the World
Funded Nov 10, 2015We LOVE our drums! The looks on these children's faces when we unpacked the drums said it all. We now have drums for at least have the class to use, which is something that could not have been said before your generous donations. Having real instruments has legitimized our music program that much more.
My students were a bit confused, though. Who are these people? Do you know them? Why do they care about us? One of the most important things to my students is family. Family takes care of family. Now, we have a bigger family. No words can express how thankful we truly are.”

Big Books! Big Possibilities!
Funded Dec 11, 2015your generosity has provided us with big opportunities! The students were confused by the race car red container that showed up to our room one day. Then the confusion turned to joy when I pulled the big books out of the storage room. They had never seen such big books and they were able to TOUCH them.
We are now able to access the big books any time we choose. They are pulled out often when students want to read to their classmates or when we have independent reading time. The beautiful thing about this book rack is that the books are always accessible to all students. They no longer have to ask me to go get them from the storage closet!
We have some exciting changes coming to the library this spring! Plans are being made to begin using centers that incorporate our big books in a new way. Hopefully, we will be adding new titles to our big book collection soon!
My students were shocked to learn that people they don't know, care about their education. Your contribution has changed my classroom, my students, and my heart! Thank you so very much. Words are not enough.”

Music for All
Funded Aug 8, 2013Our new xylophone came late last week and we were so excited when we opened the box. The students could not wait to get their hands on it, and while I was nervous to let them man-handle it, they were so gentle when each student got their turn. I am shocked at their capacity to listen! Many students said that the sound of the xylophone reminded them of the piano and of a train? I don't quite understand that one. We discussed sound waves and the resonating box on the xylophone.
So far, we have been using the xylophone to add accompaniment to songs we sing in class. Many students were shocked to see that there were pictures of a xylophone just like ours in their music textbooks. The only issue we have that is not positive is that everyone wants a turn at the same time, but we are working through that. We can't wait to begin improvising on this instrument soon!
This project has bridged the gap we had in music class. Before, we could only experience music, but now we are able to MAKE music. First-hand experience is the best teacher. You have made this possible and I can not thank you enough.”

Mrs. Richards
