Achieving with SEL!
Funded Oct 5, 2023Thank you so much for our generous donation. I cannot wait to see (and have already seen) the impact these materials will have on my students in understanding, processing, expressing, and labeling their emotions. Thank you!
With the start of each year of a new school year, there come challenges and successes. Some are the same as the previous year, but some are different depending on the year and the children. One thing that stays the same though is the fact that tiny humans have BIG feelings! BIG feelings that are ok to have. BIG feelings that we can navigate and get through together.
A Little Spot of Feelings/Emotions will help me educate and give these tiny humans tools, tips, and tricks on how to handle their emotions on a personal level! Social Emotional Learning is wonderful and crucial to teach especially at a young age. And with your donations, I can do just that.”

Funded May 7, 2018My students are loving the morning tubs. They are so eager to get into the classroom in the morning and start their day off working together and building their minds! They love the variety and it how it challenges them each and every day!
My students' reaction was priceless! They were so excited to see all the boxes showing up and then when we opened them they were so happy to see all the fun and engaging activities!! It was amazing to see their eyes light up like it was Christmas.
Our next plan with these materials is to use them right away in the morning when students arrive. When my students come into the classroom they have responsibilities like putting their folder away, making a lunch choice and getting right to work on whatever the morning task may be. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays the morning task is to pick a morning tub and then they have 7-8 minutes to do whatever they have in the morning tub. They are to work together as a team and collaborate and have fun!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation of our flexible seating options. My students love them. They add some fun to our learning while at the same time allowing students to choose seating that will maximize their learning and help them pay attention better! Students get to pick a seat each morning and keep the chair all day. The favorite right now is the exercise balls and the wiggle seats! Students have learned responsibility and respect also. They know that these were donated to use and that they are something special to have in our classroom, so they take great care of all seating options! Thank you again!”

Funded Sep 23, 2017I'd like to start out by thanking you very much for your generous donation. Your kindness and generosity does not go unnoticed.
The books that were purchased with your donation have added a new sense of variety to our guided reading lessons as well as independent reading for my tiny learners. They were SO excited to see the brand new books in our bins they could hardly contain themselves. It was so lovely to see their eyes light up and see their minds go as they chose new books to keep in their book bins. During our Daily 5 time they students cannot wait to get to the read to self and read to someone station to see and read the new books!
The book boxes that were also purchased with your donation have added some awesome pop of color to our classroom while also adding some better organization for our students and the classroom library!! They are awesome!
The reusable paper covers that were the third item your donation helped purchased get used almost EVERY day in our Daily 5 Word Work station. They have allowed me to not make so many copies and the students love to use dry erase markers/erasers to work on their word work and task cards!
All three of these resources have been a huge addition to our classroom and we thank you so very much!”

Funded Oct 11, 2015I writing today with sincere gratitude for your generous monetary donation to our project. Your donation has purchased 25 seat sacks that hang on the back of my students' chairs. With these seat sacks my class has become much more organized than before. These seat sacks allow for my students to take ownership if their belongings while keeping everything in a private space to call their own. They (and their teacher) love how the sacks keep the class neat and tidy and organized!
When my students saw the big, brown box in the classroom they knew exactly what had been delivered and they literally jumped for joy! At the time they had been keeping their belongings in a 3-drawer storage containers which was working for such things as glue, pens, markers etc., but it was not working for notebooks and textbooks. We were in desperate need of something and they knew it too! They absolutely love the seat sacks!
Right now we are just starting our 2nd quarter. We will be learning about the Revolutionary War in our English Language Arts block. In our Math block we will begin learning about division and finishing up our multiplication unit. Finally, in writing we will be continuing our Spelling Connections curriculum along with starting our new piece of writing by Bringing History to Life using Informational Writing techniques. We are moving and grooving here in 4th grade. All of this to get done in between Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks! Such fun and happy times for this age!
Thank you again for your generosity and kindness. It does not go unnoticed and you are greatly appreciated.
Happy Holidays to you all!”

Mrs. Cummings
