Plenty of Pencils
Funded Dec 3, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity in this project! You can not imagine the impact of a simple thing like a bag full of pencils, erasers, and a fidget toy! Now all of these students feel so much better prepared for their day at school! And the added benefit of not having to ask for a pencil from a teacher or a classmate is very liberating to these students. The fidget toy is exactly what everyone middle school student needs to keep little fingers busy!
Thanks to you and all the generous donors, my students have been very happy with their pencils.”

Cozy and Calm School Days!
Funded Nov 4, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity in donating to my classroom. In these times, having a safe and cozy space in school makes all the difference in the lives of my students. You can see pictures of my room. This is a place that all my students love being in, and everything you have donated to my Donors Choose helps with making it even more special.
Once students feel safe and warm in school, it really helps them feel set for the day and take in all that school can offer as far as academics. I am proud that my classroom and our school does such a great job of this.”

Funded Jan 8, 2024Our school is so grateful for your generous donation to this project. We have been able to provide extra food every day for our students. And every day, more and more students are moving with their families to New York City and coming to schools like ours, and we are welcoming them all.
My classroom has become a very welcoming space during the regular lunchtime. No matter the weather, we eat soup and have some time to chat in the home language with each other. It's a very peaceful time, and we are so happy to have had your donation for this.
Thank you so much!!”

Funded Sep 30, 2023Thank you so much for your help in achieving my goal in supplies for my sewing club! We have had a lot of fun creating different projects in the past few months, using hand sewing skills as well as using sewing machines. My students look forward to Tuesdays when we have "Sew Fun", as it is called and it's a great opportunity to get to know each other in a different context. It is a perfect time to decompress, plus the kids get to walk away with something they have made. I love seeing how they show their items to classmates the next day, too!
We are so appreciative of your generosity!”

A Library for Multilingual Learners!
Funded Aug 23, 2023I am so grateful to have had these texts to start my year off right. It seems as though every week our school has welcomed another student, and wat started out as a tiny little class of newcomers has really blossomed. I can't even express how useful these books and materials have been to my teaching. I have been creating the curriculum from scratch, so having expert sources to choose from has been excellent.
Thank you again for donating to this project-- I promise you that every day, new English words and phrases are spoken due to your generosity!”

Funded Jan 31, 2022I hope that you have had the deluxe experience of using the best equipment possible for a craft project. It really makes everything easier and better. That is how we feel using the amazing Singer sewing machine that your generous donation went towards. We are working on a community quilt, and I can assure you that using a really sturdy sewing machine helps move things along so well. Our classroom definitely looks like a professional sewing room, and I know that my students appreciate having this equipment readily available.

Funded Jan 10, 2022We are so grateful to you and your donation to our class! We just started the project that draws on the work in Stitching Stolen Lives. Each student will be making a quilt block that will be part of a community quilt. There's a lot left to do in the last few months of school, but we are in a good place with all these wonderful supplies! I know that my students will be challenged and excited to show off their work. It's surprising how working with one's hands can really calm you for the rest of your day!
Thank you again.”

Funded Oct 2, 2021We have loved making our needle felted creatures!! All of us were new to the process, but taking time to look at the materials and start making them was a great time. Shaping the animals has been a really meditative process, and watching the animals come to life is so fun!
Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom, we thank you for bringing these little felty creatures to us! I've noticed other students admiring the creatures and I'm sure it's not long till they become school mascots!
