  • Out With The Old, In With The New!

    Funded Nov 11, 2024

I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for your incredible support of our classroom project on DonorsChoose. Thanks to your generous contribution, my students will now have access to a wide variety of graphic novels that will not only enrich their reading experience but also ignite a lifelong love of literature. Your donation has truly made a difference in their educational journey, and I want to share with you just how much it means to both me and my students.

In our classroom, reading isn't just about completing assignments or passing tests. It's about fostering a passion for storytelling, building empathy, and broadening perspectives. However, one of the challenges I've observed is that many of my students, particularly those who struggle with traditional text-heavy books, find it difficult to engage with reading. Graphic novels offer an ideal way to bridge this gap. They combine the visual appeal of comics with rich storytelling, helping students to make connections, comprehend complex ideas, and feel more confident in their reading abilities.

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for believing in the power of literature to change lives. The impact of your gift will resonate throughout the school year and beyond, as my students continue to grow as readers, thinkers, and compassionate individuals. On behalf of my entire class, thank you for making a lasting difference in our educational experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roos

  • Table Tops for Hard Workers

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Thank you all so much for your generous donations in support of my classroom! This table has and will make a tremendous difference to the way I teach in my classroom. Having a table like this in my classroom allows all my children to sit up front with my during instruction. I allows me to keep a close eye on each child in my class and to make sure they are staying on task. This table is great for whole group and small group instruction. I can't thank you enough for helping out me and my students!”

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Thank you all so much for your generous donations! My students love our new reading cushions! We use them everyday during our guided reading. It gives each student a safe space to sit and enjoy a good book! Learning to read is very difficult for the students in my class. We are so thankful that your donations got us easy readers to help us learn how to read and decode words. My students cherish their new books so much! We also really love our new movement activities. Sitting still for a long period of time is very difficult for most of my students. Our math movement games gives us a chance to get up and move around the room while were still learning! My students and I are so thankful for your donations!”

  • Learning and Growing Through Books and Technology!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Today was a very exciting day in X11. The students were so excited when I opened the big box and showed them all the new things we got for our classroom!

My students couldn't wait for me to use the Dot Cam during story time. It was so nice to have the story I was reading projected onto our SmartBoard so my students could follow along with me. All of our new books that we got are going to be so helpful to not only become better readers but better writers as well!

Thank you so much for making the students in my classroom happy with your generous donations! Without people like you none of this would be possible.”

  • The Meaning of Life Through Life Cycles

    Funded Sep 6, 2017

Your donations greatly impacted the students in my classroom. Incorporating science into the classroom is fun but not always easy. There are a lot of hands on manipulatives that are needed. Receiving the life cycles materials has made science fun for the students in my classroom.

So far we have talked about the life cycles of plants, frogs, and mice. While learning about the plant life cycle my students were able to plant their plants and watch them grow. They had so much fun!

Next we are going to learn about the butterfly life cycle. We just sent away for our butterflies and when they arrive we can't wait to watch them grow!

Once again, thank you so much for your generosity with donating to my classroom, and helping my students learn and grow!”

Each student in my room has their own color. The colored bins will help the students understand which work belongs to them, fostering independence. My students are easily distracted by anything around them, the dividers will help to minimize them from getting distracted. It will also help them understand where the different stations are in the classroom. The students in my class need work that they can do independently. The file folders and fine motor activities will help them to learn how to work alone without assistance. A lot of my students like to work for computer time. The headphones will minimize the noise in the classroom. This way I can have some students on the computer while other students are working and learning. We strive for independence! My project will better my students in so many ways!
