  • Visual Journal

    Funded Jul 10, 2022

I cannot express to you how awesome it is to be able to give my students a Visual Journal to work with! It has been so fun to see them learn and plan and explore different materials! So far we have learned how to use colored pencils, oil pastels, markers, watercolor paint, and how to collage. Students were able to create amazing artworks using these materials. They were able to explore and test what the limits of the materials were capable. It has been so wonderful to be able to watch them grow while teaching them these techniques and not having to worry about them having a sketchbook. Thank you so much for giving!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffith

  • Out of this World with Watercolor

    Funded Sep 29, 2020

I cannot express to you how grateful my students are to have gotten watercolors. We have been able to create so many different kinds of artworks because of your generous donations.

So far the favorite project has been the secret message project. Students had to use a white oil pastel and write a secret message to someone in a nursing home in the community. They then videoed themselves "revealing" the message using watercolors. We put these videos together and delivered the movie to the local nursing home!

Thank you all so much for donating, my students wouldn't have been able to have these opportunities without them!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffith

  • Oil Pastels, Secrets Reveled

    Funded Aug 30, 2020

I cannot believe the kindness that you all have given these students! It was such a pleasure to give these supplies out and see the amazing things that they are doing with them.

I was able to teach them several techniques, we created an abstract drawing with them and we will soon be using them to create more artwork. My students are excited and pleased to be able to use these supplies and are making beautiful artwork because of it.

Thank you so much, without this my students would just be using graphite pencils!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffith

What makes learning art during COVID-19 particularly difficult for my students is that they are stuck at home with no art supplies. Many of my students do not have the income for extra supplies and some of their favorite projects include painting, but parents everywhere will tell you, "paint is too messy." So what's the next best thing? Oil Pastels! Students will be able to create "paintings" using this medium. Virtually, I will have my students create a variety of projects that we would normally paint. The best part? No mess for parents.
