It is my first year teaching and I hope to present the sixth-grade world history content in a way that gets them excited to learn while allowing them to collaborate and work with other students. I have multiple plans for these Break Out Boxes and got to see them in action during my student teaching last year. Break Out Boxes can be used over and over for many lessons! Students will have to work in a team and get the chance to communicate with each other through critically and creatively solving clues. A large aspect of the lessons is for the students to persevere and not give up which is something they will face in their lives. Overall, this allows all of my students to work together regardless of their skill level., and many underachieving students excel at breakout boxes. It is fun to see the excitement on my struggling students' faces when they finally solve a clue! "We must remember that our students are innately creative, innovative, and collaborative, and that we suppress these things with our control.
